Prestigious Indo-Nepal Samrasta Award GUJARAT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY Awards & Recognition Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has achieved Prestigious Indo-Nepal Samrasta Award from Former Prime Minister Shri Lokendra Bahadur in a ceremony held in Kathmandu. Indo-Nepal Cultural Coordination forum Kathmandu (Nepal) Indo-Nepal Cultural Coordination Forum organization under the aegis of "Antarrashtriya Samrasta Manch and Indo-Nepal Samrasta organization jointly selected Dr. Sheth as an ideal dignitary in "Indo-Nepal Samrasta Social Mission Yatra (March) by our Social and cultural board. GTU CiC3 Tinkers Team secure 4th National Rank in Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2018. In National Level Competition for Factory Automation Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2018 was held 16th -17th February 2018. All team has demonstrated their developed product/prototype. GTU Tinker team had develop Automatic Transformer Winding Machine for Small Scale Factories, developed prototype can wind 3 bobbins at one same time and it can be increase upto 9 bobbins. GTU Community Innovation & Co- Creation Centre Tinker Team has secure 4th National Rank and 1st Appreciation Award in 3rd Mitsubishi electric Cup 2018. Aim of Competition is to improve college students' engineering application capability, arouse their interests in learning technology, build up innovation capacity and cooperation spirit, as well as improve their self-management ability and communication skills. Theme of Competition was "Innovative Solutions for Smart Manufacturing", each team has to develop independently design and produce a complete set of devices/models by using Mitsubishi Electric factory automation products. For Competition purpose, Basic set of Mitsubishi Electric FA components (comprising of PLC, HMI and VFD or Servo Drive - Servo Motor set) had been given to the participating institute and since last 5 month (Oct 2017 to Feb 2018) all team has worked on given components and developed prototype/product. GTU Innovation Council receives 42.09 lakh by Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani, for 8 Innovative Start-up Projects. Inaugurating the Grand Education Fair at Gujarat University Convention Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani said that the state government is providing a 50% of aid to the students under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana for admissions in self finance colleges in the fields of engineering, medical, para-medical etc. The state government provides a yearly aid of Rs.800 crores for the said purpose. Mr. Rupani Sir has made an important and a sensitive announcement to ensure that the bright youth of the state do not face any kind of difficulty in pursuing education due to financial problems. The state government shall provide a maximum financial aid of Rs. 5 lakhs for pursuing higher education to the orphans, children of widows, physically handicapped, and the children of all those police officers and soldiers who have lost their lives in serving the nation. He added that as many as 2500 students shall be benefitted by this every year. The CM and various other dignitaries distributes cheque to the beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavlamban Yojana and the Gujarat Technological University Start-up and Innovation scheme. Cheque of Rs. 42.09 lakh distributed to 8 innovative start-up projects of GTU. Winners of NET (National Eligibility Test) and SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) were also honored during the event. Many colleges of GTU including LD College of Engineering, L.J. College and BVM College received awards under Student Start up and Innovation Policy. GTU gets the Best Technical University award at National Convention of ISTE. Gujarat Technological University has begged the much coveted Best Technical University award for the year 2017, the award instituted by Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) which is a National Organization encourages technical universities to enhance their performance to serve the community as well as stakeholders by improving quality & maintaining standard of the programs offered. The award is presented in the 47th ISTE National Annual Convention (Year 2017) held at Kottayam-Kerala on 27th January, 2018. The award was received by Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth, it was awarded to GTU declared by Prof. P K Desai, President of ISTE. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Shri. (Dr.) Satyapal Singh has called upon technical institutions in the country to focus on the development of rural areas. Inaugurating the 47th national convention of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) through videoconferencing at the Saintgits College of Engineering here, Dr. Singh said each engineering college should adopt a village. Such outreach initiatives would add to the nation s growth story. It is noteworthy to mention here that GTU already runs Vishwakarma Yojna, 500 colleges, 500 villages and NSS programmes for rural development. Around 6000 students of GTU colleges went to 127 villages and created 9000 toilets, which was appreciated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The teams include One from Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and another from GTU Affiliated Colleges - Vadodara Institute of Technology and Kalol Institute of Technology. GTU ROBOCON Team bagged 27th rank amongst 112 Registered Team in National level ROBOTICS Completion ROBOCON (ROBOticsCONtest) is a National/International Robotics competition organized every year by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), for Asia Pacific Region. In the competition, robots compete to complete a task within a time limit. Aim of this contest is to create friendship among young people with similar interests who will lead their countries in the 21st century. The Mission to build GTU - ROBOCON Team is to build essential skills such as Teamwork, Team Spirit, Management work, Pressure handling skills, Decision making skills, Extensive gain of technical knowledge, Circuit designing skill, Programming skill among GTU engineering students and represent Gujarat Technological University in ROBOCON and Other Robotics Competition. In Year 2017, Team Secure 27th National Rank among 112 registered team and in year 2016 GTU ROBOCON team secured 50th National Rank among 105 Team and finished as 1st Runner up among all debuted team. GTU Motorsports achieved overall first position at National level competition SUPRA SAE India, 2017 GTU Motorsports - Formula Student Team GTU is a state level collaboration between 18 colleges spread across Gujarat state, which represents Gujarat Technological University in such Formula Student events held in India. These colleges share physical and intellectual resources by using advanced communication-technology to create a highly competitive vehicle. Formula Design Challenge held in January 2015 was the first event in which the team had participated and as of today the team has participated in a total of 6 events (2 events per year) building 3 cars in total (1 every year, GTM15, GTM16, GTM17) and has become the National Champions of SUPRA SAEINDIA 2017. As the team has already registered for the upcoming event Formula Bharat 2018 which is going to be held in the month of January in 2018 at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore, the team needs to prepare a new Formula-styled race car. The team will have a car ready by January 2018, the team will participate in another similar event SUPRA SAEINDIA 2018 which will be held in the month of July in 2018. GTU Innovation Council received Excellence Award at National Student Startup & Innovation Summit on 5 th October, 2017 Gujarat Technological University got awarded by Hon. Education Minister Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Chairman AICTE, Dr. Anil Sahastrabudhe and Principal Secretary Ms. Anju Sharma (IAS). Along with University interventions 3 student startups of GTU also got awarded in early stage startup category. Realizing the importance of Startup revolution for generating employment, the Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Gujarat, along with Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd., Asia & Middle East s premier media and technology research organization is organizing National Student Startup & Innovation Summit- Gujarat to be held on 5th October 2017 in Ahmedabad. GTU Innovation Council Received Rs. 50 Lakh grant under SSIP Program Government of Gujarat today distributed grant-in-aid cheque of worth Rs.440 lakh to 23 organizations including 11 universities Under the Student Start-Up Innovation Policy (SSIP). Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has received Rs.50 Lakh for launching Student Start-up Innovation Center. The Center will help students who wants to develop prototype of their innovative project. The Center will also provide funding help in patent filing. GTU bags award for supporting Start-ups in India International Science Festival, Chennai 3rd India International Science Festival (IISF) was organized at IIT Madras, Anna University, Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC) and National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), IISF concluded on 16th October, 2017. National Start-up Summit was part of the mega event and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) won an award for supporting Start-ups in the Summit. The organizers include Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology, Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) and National Institute of Ocean Technology. Out of 15 teams present from pan India, GTU bagged two awards: 1. Dr. APJ Kalam award with fund of 3 lacs. 2. GTU incubated startup CPM Industries won 1.25 lacs in the category of growth stage startups. The awards were given by the hands of Dr Vijay Bhatkar who is Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. GTU-GSSCD received award for Innovative Smart Academic Program Smart City E-Courses under the Graduate School of Smart Cities Development, is one of the unique initiatives of GTU. Participants from all across the country and from different backgrounds have enrolled for the online - distance learning - courses on Smart Cities. The courses are conducted through a totally paperless system utilizing the technology for smart education. In the month of December 2016, GTU has received award of Innovative Smart Academic Program at a national level event in New Delhi for conducting the Smart City E-Courses. The award was presented by Shri. Manoj Sinha, Minister of State of the Ministry of Communications, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways. 9TH ASSOCHAM HIGHER EDUCATION SUMMIT 2016, 17th February 2016 Gujarat Technological University (GTU) received an award of Best University Support for Students, which was given by Prof. (Dr.) Ram Shankar Katheria, Hon ble Minister of State for HRD (Higher Education) at the event of 9th Higher Education Summit & National Excellence Awards 2016 in New Delhi organized by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). Team comprising of Shri J C Lilani, I/c Registrar,Mr. Amit Patel, Assistant Professor (IPR)and Mr. Kaushik Akiwatkar, Project Officer (Entrepreneurship) received the award at the ceremony on behalf of GTU. The ASSOCHAM awards in education are given under seven categories, which encompasses higher education awards, B-school awards, science and technology awards, K-12 awards, vocational and skills training, service providers and excellence in sports. 5 th Digital Learning World Education Summit Awards, August 21 st -22 nd, 2015 On August 22 nd 2015, GTU was awarded Best Higher Education Institute under Government Sector Initiative for Entrepreneurship and Student Startup Support System. The summit was organized by Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies and Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd. The organizations such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India and National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) participated in previous World Education Summit at highest level. ASSOCHAM Education Excellence Awards, February 19, 2014 On February 19 2014, GTU was awarded Best Higher Education Institute/ University of the Year at Hotel Shangri-La, Janpath, New Delhi Organized by ASSOCHAM India. The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), India's premier apex chamber covers a membership of over 4 lakh companies and professionals across the country. It was established in 1920 by promoter chambers, representing all regions of India. The jury this year had on board a panel of pre-eminent personalities across significant domains of the social set-up, who, brilliantly adept as they are, shall apply their expertise and adroit wisdom to arrive at the most reasoned and deserved of judgments. ASSOCHAM assured that the entire process of evaluation and assessment would be conducted by the esteemed jury with highest tenets of transparency and accountability. Dainik Bhaskar National Educational leadership Award, October 2013 On 23 rd October 2013, Dainik Bhaskar Group conferred Dr Akshai Aggarwal with the award for outstanding contribution to education at glittering ceremony at Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai. GTU has made unmatched progress in this area by setting up Indo-German and Indo-Canadian Study Centres, various International Experience Programs, a number of foreign faculty advising GTU students in their research along with making special presentation during Research Week and specially designed workshops and GCSR project under MBA program. The event was organized by the Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies CSDMS and co-organized by Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India as well as National E governance plan. The event was sponsored by companies like IBM, SIEMENS, Microsoft, Infosys Etc. Awards were given in several Categories like e-agriculture, e- Gov, Digital Learning, e- Health etc. Gujarat Technological University has been awarded as ICT enabled University in the Digital Learning Category. The ICT enabled University of the year Award seeks to acknowledge and highlight the achievements of a University in bringing new and innovative endeavors for the benefit of the Higher Education community. Manthan Award South Asia 2009 Gujarat Technological University has been awarded this for its project - Gujarat Common Entrance Exam (GCET -2009). This was the first time in India that any State level (Government) Entrance Exam had conducted an online entrance test. The entire project used cutting edge technology and offered innovative solutions to address online application, online exam delivery and instantaneous declaration of printed score card and online counselling through online allocation of college seats for admission. GCET 2009 is conducted by GTU for admissions to Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Computer Application Gujarat (MCA) courses in all institutions throughout Gujarat. About 25,000 students appear in the entrance test at 25 locations in Gujarat. A student can take the test a second time, if he/ she wants, with the best of the two scores being considered for admission.
