As scholarship and operational costs have continued to increase, the need for additional funding has continued to escalate. THE PLAYBOOK - RED RIVER SHOWDOWN The OU-Texas game is one of the most iconic rivalries in college football with the winning school securing bragging rights for its entire state. The State Fair of Texas and the Cotton Bowl annually creates lasting family experiences around which has led to tickets for this game becoming the most popular on our schedule. How are tickets determined and allocated? The Priority Point System and Sooner Club annual giving level provide the most equitable way to determine 1) which Sooner Club members receive tickets, 2) how many tickets each season ticket holder receives and 3) the location of tickets inside the Cotton Bowl. How many tickets do I qualify for? Some Oklahoma football season ticket holders acquire OU-Texas tickets because of their seat location inside Gaylord FamilyOklahoma Memorial Stadium. These members have a companion OU-Texas ticket for each priority seat which are invoiced on their season ticket renewal form. Orders are first placed in annual giving level beginning with Bud Wilkinson Society members through Bronze Sooner Circle members and then placed within priority point order within each giving level. Coaches Sooner Circle, Crimson Sooner Circle, and Century Sooner Circle members are categorized together in priority point order. Large orders are allocated up to (6) tickets in a primary location and the remaining amount in a secondary location. Most season ticket holders will receive the number of tickets they are eligible for based upon annual giving level, however, this number will not exceed the number of season tickets they have in their account. (See Chart) What is the best way to improve my location? The most immediate way to improve your OU-Texas location is to increase your Sooner Club contribution to the next giving level. For the past five years, Bud Wilkinson Society, Golden Sooner Circle and Silver Sooner Circle membership has continuously broken previous highs. Every seat within the Cotton Bowl is re-allocated each season, but members may request the same location in writing to the Sooner Club. Location will ultimately be determined by giving level and priority points. Requests are accepted up until tickets are allocated in June. THE PLAYBOOK - GRIFFIN FAMILY PERFORMANCE CENTER The Griffin Family Performance Center will be an approximately 18,400 square-foot addition to the Lloyd Noble Center. Former Sooner great and current NBA star Blake Griffin and former tennis letterwinner Tim Headington have made leadership gifts towards the project which has allowed construction to begin. This facility is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018. The addition will provide our student-athletes with the ability to strength train in a world class setting along with cutting edge methods for performance testing and assessment. THE PLAYBOOK - SOFTBALL RENOVATION The OU Softball Complex, which includes Marita Hynes Field, opened in 1998 and is home to one of the most successful programs of its kind. With four national championships (since 2000), 14 conference titles and a long list of All-Americans and record-setters, Sooner softball stands proudly as one of OU s most decorated sports. Given that level of accomplishment, it s not surprising that sellout crowds have become the norm. Originally built for 475 fans, the OU Softball Complex has seen nearly four times that many people fill the fixed grandstand and the auxiliary bleachers that have been added in the outfield and down the foul lines. To address the relatively rapid emergence of the program and its appeal to spectators, some enhancements have been made. The most significant of those in recent years was the replacement of the playing surface, which reduced the likelihood of rain delays. Other improvements, including the installation of TV-friendly lighting, the video board and new player lockers, have been mostly cosmetic. No large scale improvements have been made since the construction of the indoor training facility in 2009. In 2011, OU Athletics, with the assistance of the architectural firm Populous, embarked on a master plan for the OU Softball Complex to enhance the visual appearance, function, fan amenities, and overall ambiance. The goal of the master plan is to identify the needs of the facility and propose options for addressing and meeting these needs. The development of this master plan has yielded a concept that would greatly impact both student-athletes and fans. Once completed, the master plan will position our coaches and student-athletes with a state-ofthe-art facility to continue and enrich OU Softball s tradition of excellence. THE PLAYBOOK - L. DALE MITCHELL PARK L. Dale Mitchell Park first opened in 1982. Since that time, it has undergone various phases of work to improve its function and appearance. A facility enhancement survey conducted by HOK found that there were several areas of L. Dale Mitchell Park that needed to be addressed as quickly as possible. Included in the necessary upgrades were sidewalks, fencing, locker rooms, mechanical and plumbing systems, lighting, field wall and locker rooms. THE PLAYBOOK - OTHER CAPITAL PROJECTS RANSOM SHORT COURSE The Ransom Short Course is a world-class team training facility named for alumnus Jerry Ransom and his family in appreciation of his gift. The facility is a four-hole short course sitting on 11 acres, located directly west of the new entrance drive to the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. This area will give OU teams the ability to emulate shots using all 14 clubs in their bag. Multiple bunkers will protect the four (4) greens. Each green will have a different style, allowing players to prepare for any type of course they may play. The greens will also be shallow, so the golfers can improve their distance control. The Ransom Short Course will be transformational in recruiting the best student-athletes and preparing current student-athletes for the next level.
