MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CLUSTER AIMS TO BOOST RUSSIAN HEALTHCARE The Moscow International Medical Cluster (MIMC) is projected to be one of the largest international medical hubs in Eastern Europe and a major destination center for the treatment of socially significant diseases in Russia and CIS. Supporting the idea of national healthcare transformation, MIMC aims to provide world-class healthcare services to Russian patients and to build a platform for a knowledge exchange and cooperation between international and Russian medical professionals and R&D pioneers. The MIMC is planning to attract reputable international operators in the fields of medical services, education and R&D. RUSSIA IS A FAVOURABLE BUSINESS PLAYGROUND TO BE IN TODAY Russia is ranked sixth in the world in terms of GDP PPP and has the largest per capita GDP PPP among the BRICS club. Moreover, Russia s business environment has become the most attractive among BRICS countries. With a sustainably improving business climate, Russia has jumped from 20th to 40th in the World Bank s Doing Business rankingsince 20 attaining a far better position compared to other BRICS countries due to nation-wide initiatives and improved legislation. INVESTMENT INCENTIVES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIMC RESIDENTS The Moscow International Medical Cluster offers a unique competitive advantage to participants versus other OOP and VMI players in Russia. OECD-registered licenses are acknowledged within MIMC territory without any extra licensing required: medical protocols, medicines, medical devices and certificates for medical, educational, R&D specialists. The health services market in Russia has massive growth potential. Expected market growth will be fuelled by a number of factors, including overall GDP growth, growth of out-of-pocket spending on medical services and an increasing demand within the population for better access to high quality healthcare services, as witnessed by Russian medical tourists pursuing treatment abroad. #7 #3 Though the healthcare market is dominated by government spending at 70%, the OOP spending share is the secondlargest at 6.6%, followed by VMI spending at 5.8%. PARTNERSHIP WITH SKOLKOVO INNOVATION CENTER The Moscow International Medical Cluster is located in the Skolkovo Innovation Center (Skolkolvo IC), a developing high technology business hub in Russia that partners with more than 50 large Russian and international corporations, such as IBM, Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, Schneider Electric, SAP, Boeing, Microsoft, Shimadzu, Sberbank, Lukoil and others. Due to its prime location in Skolkovo, MIMC can ensure that cluster participants have access to established Skolkovo infrastructure and innovation ecosystems: R&D and clinical research facilities, resident startups, global corporations, Skolkovo Biomedical Cluster and Skoltech. To support investors and other potential partners, the Moscow Government established the International Medical Cluster Foundation: a non-profit organization, which serves as a one-stop shop for candidates entering MIMC and provides continuous support to ongoing operations.
