AMERICAN LEGION POST 359 7260 S US HWY 1 TITUSVILLE, FL 32780 Newsletter March/April 2016 Commanders comments Spring is on the horizon. With the completion of our addition, rearrangements of the post social quarters are necessary. To dispel the rumors, we are not relocating the memorial alcove. We are simply relocating some of the items in the Memorial alcove that would be better suited in another location. The flags; the Post, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion charters will be moved into the addition; to name a few. It is that time of year when we turn our attention to election of officers. General membership has voted to have only one nomination prior to elections. Members approved the nominations to be on April 20th at General membership meeting 6pm. Elections will be held on May 7th from 9am 6pm. In the event of a tie, a run off will be on May 14th. Our Post Charter was signed in 1991. If you have a story to share about our post home, please send it to the Post. I have contacted charter members, past commanders as well as some of the older folks for stories to write something for a memorial book. I am still awaiting those stories. Historian Lyle Waltemire has done a fabulous job capturing our post history for the past several years. Stop by and see the albums he has completed. We will have our 25th Post Anniversary Party on Saturday April 30th. Our dreams would not be possible without the help of all the members who share our vision. Thank you to all our members. AUXILIARY UNIT 359 With spring not far away, let s take time to think about how much our military has done for us. We celebrate the birthday of American Legion Post 359. At this time, we want to thank Maura and Fred for all their hard work in making the Steak shoot run smoothly. Our thanks also to Red for cooking at our steak dinner. We need some new ideas for fundraisers that help our veterans, no matter where they are. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting SAL Comments A big thanks for our volunteers for our Seafood Fest event...and the great menu that we had. Those that didn't make the event...you missed a fantastic variety of seafood and the seafood chowder. Our membership renewals have been doing well, and at present we're ahead of our Detachment goals. Special thanks to, Vinny Buonocore and Phil Duncan for their efforts in this endeavor. Squadron 359 is sponsoring 2 candidates for Boys State this year as voted at our general meeting. On another note; we're all aware of the new addition to the post, which will benefit all of us. As such, there will be some need for volunteers to help with various tasks as we progress.
