Alzheimer s Disease Association are recruiting elder-sitters. Eldersit Program: Eldersit program is a pilot project that is meant to give person with dementia opportunity to be engaged in meaningful and therapeutic activities to maintain their cognitive functioning. One to four hours of respite care service are provided by our trained Eldersitters to the home, or family can also utilized the centre-based service, for the person with dementia. This aims to give family caregivers a break in caregiving as well as encourage the person with dementia to participate in meaningful activities.
Recruitment: Position: Elder-sitter Job Description: A part-time contract position as an Elder-sitter for persons with dementia in their home environment or at centre. Eldersitter will be engaging persons with dementia in therapeutic activities. Training would be provided. Requirements: - Must have an interest in working with elderly. Prior caregiving experience with persons with dementia would be an advantage. - Able to commit for at least a weekday for a 6-month period. - Positive attitude. - Willing to travel island wide. - No minimum qualification required but must be able to understand and speak simple English. - Work on assignment basis from Monday to Friday (Between 9am to 6pm). Will be required to work on some Saturdays. Remuneration: - $8 to $10 per hour, rates is subjected to the nature of cases handled. - Training would be provided.
