CITEL: Reducing the Digital Divide in the Americas OAS advisory body on telecommunications and information and communications technologies - ICT Accelerate social, economic and environmentally sustainable development for all the people in the region through the development of telecommunications and ICT Full integration of the American States into the global information society 3

CITEL is reducing the Digital DIvide in the Americas Harmonization and expansion of the use, coverage and penetration of ICT, in particular the implementation of broadband. Development of digital skills, technical cooperation and technology transfer Implementation of the 2030 ICT Alliance for the Americas" and specific products in digital education that ICT industry companies have delivered to CITEL after the OAS General Assembly in June 2016: Telefónica, CISCO, Millicom International and America Movil 4

THE IMPACT OF ICTS ON QUALITY EDUCATION IN THE AMERICAS TODAY S REALITY IS MORE CONNECTIVITY & MORE DIGITAL EDUCATION! Design and implementation of public policies that promote the use of ICTs and maximize the economic and social impact of technology to achieve the goals of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. Large-scale digital training to help raise the quality of education in the Americas and develop talents for the new digital economy. 5

THE IMPACT OF ICTS ON QUALITY EDUCATION IN THE AMERICAS Technology impacts on GDP growth, the level of population education and the improvement of employment (CAF) ICTs can contribute to universal access to education, equality in education, the exercise of quality teaching and learning, and the professional development of teachers, as well as to the more efficient management and administration of the education systems (UNESCO) ICTs increase accountability, transform and expand service to disadvantaged areas (Banco Mundial) 6

THE OAS AND THE 2030 ICT ALLIANCE FOR THE AMERICAS Unidos para impulsar la Agenda 2030 Aligned with all the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular SDG # 17, which seeks to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. 7

LA ALIANZA TIC 2030 AMERICAS y el impacto social de las TIC Commitments of this public-private-partnership: 1. Work together to contribute to the global goal to connect 1.5 billion people more by the year 2020; 2. Ensure that every public school in the Americas is connected to the Internet before year 2030, and to create relevant local contents; 3. Promote digital training and contribute in improving the quality of education, and develop talents for the new digital economy; and 4. Strengthen democratic participation in the Americas through ICT. 9
