Continuous Volunteer Opportunities On-Base MCCS Libraries on Camp Foster, Futenma & Courtney The library is looking for individuals who are comfortable using technology physically able to be on their feet for long periods of time, able to engage with a variety of people of all ages, including children and willing to work as park of one team. Please dress in business/ casual attire and closed toed shoes. Volunteers must wear appropriate clothing. Active duties are welcome to come and volunteer in uniform. Volunteers will be doing tasks such as hanging up clothes, testing electronics, putting away items, and helping to keep the store neat and organized. Volunteers will receive a Letter of Appreciation (LOA) after every 12 hours of volunteer service. The MTS will credit hours towards the LOA for the green line bus travel times from the camps to the MTS. With every 20 hours of volunteering, volunteers will receive $5.00 in store credit. All volunteers under the age of 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Lunch is provided for volunteers that volunteer for four hours or more in a given day. Community Relations Volunteer Opportunities! Japanese Spouses English Class When: Meets every Monday from 1130am to 1:00 pm excluding American and Japanese Holidays. Where: Held at Kadena Chapel one (building 9800) near Kadena Gate one Come help teach English to Japanese military spouses wanting to improve their English confidence, learn about Western culture, and make new friends. No formal teaching experience or preregistration is required to volunteer. Suginoko Preschool Visits NEXT VISIT 27 DECEMBER! 3 rd Intelligence Battalion has adopted a Japanese Preschool via the Camp Headquarters called Suginoko. This preschool is visited by 3 rd Intelligence Battalion Marines, family members, children and friends with the help of Mr. Taka, the Camp Hansen Community Relations Specialist. If you have young children at home and still want to go out and volunteer with them, then this is the type of event for you! When: Every last Wednesday of the month from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Where: We meet in front of the 3 rd Intelligence Battalion front entrance and carpool to the school in Kin Town about 5 minutes away. Kin-Hansen English Friendship Class American and Japanese people come together to learn from each other every Tuesday evening. Volunteers assist a lead instructor in a EIKAWA (English Conversation) structured class. No preregistration or formal teaching experience is needed. This program is sponsored by the Hansen Camp Commander and Nago Central Community Center. Where: Nago Central Community Center near Camp Hansen Gate 1. Camp Schwab Play with English, Intercultural Exchange and Adult English Programs This program is hosted by our sister camp and involves visiting preschools throughout Nago. Child volunteers are also welcome here! Following dates for December are Nov 30, Dec 4, 14, & 21 meet at the Camp Schwab Visitor s Center at 0900. Dec 5, 13, 15, 19, 20 &22nd meet at the Camp Schwab Visitor s Center at 0800. For individuals requiring transportation from Camp Schwab, van spots are first come first served, otherwise volunteers will follow Mr. Iha to the schools. Camp Schwab also has an Adult English Class every Wednesday night from 1900-2100 at the Schwab Education Center.
