Mr. Kew Sun Chai, former President of the Midwestern Region, not only initiated the development of the Mideastern chapter in Detroit, but also gave great support and advice. excellent performance at the banquet. Three Chair scholarships were already in existence. A total of $5,500 in scholarships was awarded to seven undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Moonsong Oh, the Chairperson of the National Board, was the keynote speaker. Mideastern Region 2004 The Mideastern Region held its 2 nd annual scholarship award banquet on August 28 at the Korean Cultural Center of Michigan. The keynote speaker was KASF National Board Chairperson, Il Chu Choi. The YMCA Choir performed for the attendees. Eight scholarships were awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Il Chu Choi, Chairperson of the National Board, was again the keynote speaker. Guests were entertained by the YMCA Choir, Hae Lim Diana Choi s Korean traditional dance and Sehun Kim s piano performance. Nine students were awarded scholarships and Ms. Hongja Okim, Chairperson of the National Board, delivered the keynote speech. Tenor Hyeong Sang Do sang at the banquet. KASF 40 Years 2008 The 6th annual scholarship awards banquet was held on October 5 at the Korean American Cultural Center of Michigan. Seven students, including an adoptee, were awarded scholarships and Mr. Khee Park, Chairperson of the National Board, delivered the keynote speech. The region granted $100 for those traveling far to attend the ceremony, in addition to the scholarships. Yoon Kyung Cho entertained the attendees with a sword dance program and Yongmin Kim, last year s recipient, also gave a wonderful performance.
