Dear Parents and Students: Welcome to the 2018 District 214 College Fair Program. We hope that the information you obtain here this evening will be helpful in your college planning. Some colleges that have participated in previous college night programs are not present this year due either to other commitments or budgeting restrictions. Through requests from both parents and students, new names have been added to the list of participating colleges. The institutions listed on the following pages represent colleges of a variety of types from various parts of the country. The college representatives are prepared to discuss admission requirements and procedures, curriculum offerings, scholarships, financial aid information, housing options, and programs for advanced study. Once you have had the opportunity to look over the information and material you receive, you may have further questions. Please feel free to contact your high school s college counselor for clarification or additional information. Register for the D214 College Fair With Strivefair.com While the D214 College Fair is free, students should pre-register. Here are the registration steps: Go to www.strivefair.com When asked which fair you are attending, select District 214 IRCF 04/10/18. The fairs are arranged by date. Complete the survey and click Sign Up. Once registration is complete you will receive a barcode by text and/or email. A reminder email and/or text with the barcode is sent again two hours before the fair. How long does registration take? Only a minute or two. Does it cost anything? No, it s free. What if I make a mistake? Simply register again. Go to Strivefair.com and fill out the the form a second time. When you receive a second barcode, delete the old barcode and use the new one. What happens next? At the college fair, colleges will scan your barcode to get your contact information. In return, you will receive the college representatives contact information and additional material about the schools that interest you. What if I don t have a smartphone or my phone is cracked? Register at Strivefair.com on a computer or ipad. Once you receive the barcode and ID number, you can write down their ID number. Colleges will take the ID number in place of the bar code.

What is the makeup of the student body (i.e. from what states, commuter vs. residential, religious backgrounds, most popular majors)? 4. What is the housing situation? Where can freshmen live? What are the dorms like? 5. What percentage of students return for their sophomore year? What percentage graduate? 6. Do you have my major? What are the strongest majors? 7. What is the average class size for freshmen? For upperclassmen? Are classes typically taught by professors or graduate students? 8. Are there opportunities for research, independent study, internships or study abroad? 9. What kinds of clubs or activities are there? Is there a greek system on campus? If so, what percent of the student body is involved? 10. Do you have an honors program? 11. Describe the job placement program both during school and after graduation. How about placement in medical or law school...is there help? 12. Do you have career planning and counseling services? 13. Describe the sports program. In what division does your school compete? How popular are intramurals? 14. Are there special facilities in my interest area (radio/computers/labs/etc.)? 15. What are your admissions standards and what kind of student are you looking for? 16. What is the tuition, room and board and comprehensive costs of this school? 17. What kinds of financial aid are available, including merit based aid? 18.
