REGION VII 2011 ELECTION CHAIR-ELECT CANDIDATE TONY ONOFRIETTI M.S., CRSS -THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH PERSONAL STATEMENT It is my privilege to be nominated as your Chair Elect for Region VII. I have over 25 years of experience administering public service programs in government and higher education settings. I also am a consultant and public speaker for several professional associations and continuing medical education programs. As Director for the University of Utah s Research Administration Training Series, teaching and learning are my passion. I have presented numerous workshops and concurrent sessions for the regional and annual meetings, incorporating innovative and interactive technologies to enhance participants learning. I especially enjoy connecting with colleagues in our region and across the country. If elected, one of my goals will be to enhance Region VII s image and presence regionally and nationally. Together, I believe we can create personal connections with all of the institutions in Region VII and increase our membership base by involving inactive institutions. One way to accomplish this will be to use our new Website and social networking to improve communication and coordination among members. Another way will be to promote the Institutional Liaison position for our region. I would like to see this position incorporated into our regional leadership much as we have with the Volunteer Coordinator role. The Institutional Liaison can help develop outreach activities to involve our colleagues at all Region VII institutions. In collaboration with our officers and the Volunteer Coordinator, we can strengthen our volunteer base, add new expertise, and identify a leadership development pathway for our region. My goal will be for all Region VII members to view themselves as NCURA Ambassadors Ambassadors within their individual institutions, in collaboration with their regional colleagues, and with members in regions across the US. When we increase our membership base, build up our pool of expertise, create a pathway to leadership, and further develop collaborations throughout the region, Region VII s NCURA presence will shine.
