Letter from THE PRESIDENT Dear Member, Thank you for your membership and continued support of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN ). The WOCN Society is a professional nursing society which supports its members by promoting educational, clinical and research opportunities to advance the practice and guide the delivery of expert health care to individuals with wounds, ostomies and incontinence. Whether you have been a member for years or just recently joined, there is always something new to discover with your WOCN Society membership! The Society offers tools, document libraries, members-only forums and more to advance your career and help you stay connected to advancements within the field. The Big Book of Benefits breaks down all of the benefits of your membership for your easy reference. We hope you take advantage of all of your WOCN Society member benefits that are aimed to provide day-today support in your practice. Document LIBRARY The Document Library contains over 70 documents that have been researched and developed by experts in the field of WOC nursing. Documents are arranged by topic, such as Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, and include others such as Professional Practice and Public Policy. As a member, you can access all documents in the Library when you are logged in. The Document Library is located under the Publications menu at wocn.org. BOOKSTORE and APPAREL STORE Select publications are available in print and can be purchased at a discount for members in the WOCN Society Bookstore, including the WOCN Wound Guidelines and WOC Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. You can also find links to WOCN publications that are sold through other providers, such as the WOC Nursing Core Curriculum Textbooks. The Bookstore is located under the Publications menu. Continuing Education CENTER The Continuing Education Center (CEC) is the place for the latest in WOC nursing educational courses. You must be logged in to access free content or make purchases. Go to wocncec.org and click Log In at the top of the page. Your login is the same username and password as the Member Center. Continuing Education: You have access to over 30 free courses, totaling over 36 credit hours. Conference Library: You can purchase past sessions from our Annual Conference here. Looking for past CE certificates from Live Streamed Annual Conference sessions? Click My Account at the top of the page when you are logged in, then choose Archives. Certification Review: Includes Wound, Ostomy, and Continence review sessions, available at a discount for members. Webcasts: The Society s free live webcasts are available here for download. JWOCN and CE Members* receive a subscription to the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN), which includes both the mailed issue and access to the online archives. To access the archives, sign in to wocn.org and go to the Publications menu and choose JWOCN. If you receive the JWOCN through your membership to the Society, you also have the opportunity to earn free online CE credits via CEConnection, the Journal s CE portal. Member Discount TO THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE Enhance your clinical knowledge and learn the latest advances in WOC care all while networking at the largest meeting of WOC practitioners and researchers in the world. Find information on upcoming Conferences as well as past Conferences under the Education menu at wocn.org. Continuing education sessions at the Annual Conference will provide you with the opportunity to learn from top clinical experts, addressing health care problems relating to all patient populations and practice settings. Additionally, the Annual Conference is an excellent in-person networking opportunity. REGIONS and AFFILIATES Regions and Affiliates are organized throughout the country where members of the organization can share their expertise, concerns and professional issues. These groups provide an opportunity for organized exploration and discussion in an environment structured to meet the needs of a local group. This type of community results in improved care of the patient, professional growth and communication regarding the WOC nurse and the WOCN Society. Your region and affiliate receives $13 for every current member who renews each year, to be used towards resources within that area. MEMBERSHIP INFO and TUTORIALS Once you are logged in at wocn.org, go to the blue box titled My Profile to access all of your important membership information. Under Manage Profile, click Edit Bio to update your mailing address, email, username and password, and other important information. You can also opt-in or out of the Nurse Referral database. Membership Card: Access and Print your Membership Card under My Profile, then click Membership Info. You can also view your past transactions and print your dues payment receipts. CLINICAL RESOURCES and TOOLS WOCN Society-developed clinical tools and algorithms are located under the Resources menu at wocn.org. Under Clinical Tools, you will find OASIS Resources; the Image Library; and the Venous Leg Ulcer and Support Surface algorithms. Career CENTER Also under the Resources menu is the Career Center, where you can post your resume and search through a national database of open positions in the field of WOC nursing. Stay Connected TO LATEST NEWS AND EVENTS The WOCN Society keeps you connected to the latest news and events within the Society and the field of wound, ostomy or continence care. The WOCNow is the Society s electronic newsletter that is distributed twice a month. In order to receive the WOCNow, members must have their current email address updated in the member center. The Latest News and Events section of the website is an excellent outlet for topline information and staying informed.
