Neighborhood Unity Foundation Grants Program The Neighborhood Unity Foundation (NUF), in collaboration with San Diego Neighborhood Funders, is pleased to announce the 2011-2012 NUF Grants Program for the residents of southeastern San Diego. Eligible activities must: Promote this year s theme, People Helping People, Create connections between community members, and Directly benefit the southeastern San Diego community. Who can apply? Residents, neighborhood groups, and nonprofit organizations can apply for a NUF grant. How much can I apply for? The NUF Grants Program provides grants from 500 5000. What are the requirements? NUF seeks people who have ideas about how neighbors can build a safe and healthy community. We are looking for creative ways to bring people together to work towards the greater good of the community. Ideas can include one-day projects or ongoing programs. Selected projects must have other funds or sources of help in addition to those provided by NUF. These resources can include but are not limited to donated materials, money from fundraisers, in-kind gifts, or personal contributions. Projects must be completed within nine months after receipt of funding. We are unable to fund political activities, religious activities, scholarships, or fundraisers. Additionally, the NUF Grants Program cannot provide funding for salaries for permanent staff, nor for the applicant s time spent coordinating the grant activity. How do I apply? If you have an idea and would like to apply for a grant, you will need to complete a NUF Grants Application and return it to: NUF Grants Program, 404 Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114. Be sure to keep a photocopy of your application materials for your records. Questions about applying for a grant can be answered at our grants orientation meetings, which take place on January 17, 2012 and August 15, 2012; please call for times and locations. We encourage potential applicants to talk with us about any questions they have before submitting an application. Application Deadlines The deadlines to turn in applications through the end of 2012 are: January 31st and August 29 th, 2012 Applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered no later than 5:00 p.m. by these dates no extensions or exceptions are permitted. All applicants will be notified of the grants decisions approximately ten (10) weeks after the application deadline.
