Student Body Government The HELM Leadership Package For Class Officers Due date: Friday, March 31 st - in the front office. Congratulations on taking the first steps to becoming a leader in the Allatoona Community. Your journey will be fun and a great educational experience. It will be very demanding on your time, and will require integrity, determination and dedication to do all tasks to the best of your abilities, with a lot of initiative. Before committing to be a member of the Executive Committee, consider your responsibilities for the 2017-2018 school year. The HELM will need to be an important priority for you. Your responsibilities to HELM activities are important and will require your attention and participation. Executive Committee, as leaders of the HELM, has a higher obligation than general membership. Think about how you will give the several hours needed each week for meetings, projects, and your responsibilities when you may also be involved in sports, other organizations, or a job. We want you to be involved, but don t over commit yourself to more responsibilities than you can handle. We want you to succeed academically, morally, and socially. Executive Committee Member Responsibilities: 1. Be a leader of character and integrity!!! 2. Attend all AHS HELM meetings - Executive Board Meetings are Tuesday mornings at 7:30am - Additional Meetings may be required as large events approach 3. Plan Meetings with your Graduating Class - Maintain class social media - Arrange class sponsored events - Encourage participation in sponsored HELM events as volunteers or as a group from your Graduating Class - Provide incentives for students to pay their class dues 4. Attend all AHS HELM sponsored events - July 2017: Planning Retreat - August 2017 Buc Bash, Open House, Pencil Project, Academic Recognition with Honor Cards - September 2017: Homecoming, Feed the Firefighters - October 2017: Trunk or Treat
- November 2017: Thanks for Giving Food Drive - December 2017: Shop with a Buc - January 2018: Basketball Spirit Week, Open House, Mini-Marathon - February 2018: Sadie Hawkins Dance - March 2018: Shoebox Party - April 2018 Pickett s Mill Spring Fling, Honors Night - May 2018: Teacher Appreciation, Graduation 5. Be a vital link of information: Report on all activities of the HELM to the student body via face-to-face encounters and social media. 6. Listen to the concerns of the group you represent at all times and express these views at AHS HELM Executive Board meetings. 7. Be a motivating force and support for all School activities. You will receive notice no later than Wednesday, April 12 th as to whether you qualify to run for a Class Officer position. Please be prepared to attend a MANDATORY meeting on Thursday, April 13 th at 7:30am in room 2303. If you are chosen to run for a Class Officer Position, you should be prepared to campaign from Friday, April 14 th through Friday, April 21 st. Voting will take place online through the AHS website (additional information TBA) The 2017-2018 AHS HELM Executive Board will be announced on Wednesday, April 26 th.
