This one-of-a-kind experience for children ages 0-5 years old will feature six original productions from for the, the return of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra s, stroller tours and art-making activities at the High Museum of Art. The, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and High Museum of Art present the second annual TODDLER TAKEOVER on May 29 31, 2015 at the Woodruff Arts Center. During this three day festival, the Woodruff Arts Center will open its doors to the youngest members of our community and inspire the next generation through world class artistic programming. The presents Knuffle Bunny:, based on the beloved children s book by Mo Willems. Knuffle Bunny comes to life in this funny, heart-warming, one-act production, opening May 29 for Toddler Takeover and running through June 21. The High Museum of Art will feature the exhibition Seriously Silly! The Art & Whimsy of Mo Willems (May 23, 2015 January 10, 2016), a retrospective of illustrations by the bestselling artist and author. Photo by Greg Mooney. Performances Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Music for the 1 & 12:45 p.m. Our youngest learners and their accompanying adults are invited to a music experience that puts them up-close and personal with live instrumental music. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra s Very Young, an engaging program featuring a small ensemble of live musicians who fill the room with music and stories and laughter. for the performance: Waiting for Balloon Saturday 9:30 a.m. & Written by TMarq Directed by Rosemary Newcott Two childlike hobo-clown characters are waiting near the railroad tracks for balloon. The problem is that neither of them knows exactly what balloon is. Through delightful trial and error, exploration and interaction with the audience, the two piece together what makes a balloon a balloon and celebrate all that is discovered while we wait! This is a joyous introduction to gentle clowning and the joy of creating puppets from found objects, (designed by Michael Haverty). for the performance: Little Raindrop Songs Friday 9:30 a.m.,, & 12:30 p.m. Written and Directed by Michael Haverty A whimsically theatrical and imaginative journey through an anything-but-normal day. Combining unexpected puppetry, a vibrantly colorful and transformative two-dimensional set design, whimsically comic performances, and the catchy pajama-pop of Lullatone, this fully interactive theatrical performance will connect with the very young and invite them in to the wonder of the artistic experience. for the performance: The Lizard & Friday & Saturday, 1, & 1:30 p.m. Directed by Rosemary Newcott An interactive adventure based on a famous Mexican folktale about a time when, (the Sun), disappeared from the sky. Young ones and their caregivers will help the tenacious Lizard find sleepy and finally coax him out of his hiding place. Colorful puppets and bright Mexican-inspired music and dance will lead everyone along in this tropical tale that promises to culminate in a grand festival to celebrate sunshine and friendship and all the joy that life can bring! for the performance: Roob and Noob Sunday 9:30 a.m.,, & 12:30 p.m. Written and Directed by Andy Gaukel Meet Roob and Noob: two overly curious scientists who love nothing more than discovering something new. Join them on an interactive adventure, as they build machines from simple objects and explore the wonder and sensations of each of the four seasons. The musical is based on Mo Willems s enormously popular book, A Cautionary Tale. for the performance: Performances 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., & 1:00 p.m. Installation open 8:15 a.m. 4:45 p.m. Directed and Curated by Park Cofield An underwater playscape designed for children ages 0 2 years old. Join us as you and your baby meet some friendly sea creatures, explore the textures of the coral reef, and discover the fun and adventure that awaits you under the sea. Interact with original music, join a playful school of fish, and come splash with us this summer. This safe, interactive, and creative environment will engage all of the senses and introduce babies to the joy of theatre and the wonder of the ocean. for the workshop performance: Play the Play with Cat the Cat Performances Sunday, 12:30 p.m., & 1:30 p.m. Written and Directed by Scott Warren Based on the book series by Mo Willems Based on Mo Willems beloved CAT the CAT series, this play explores the often terrifying experience of making a new friend. Using the rhyming and simple language of the books, this theatrical experience will invite our young audience to identify Cat the Cat s parade of animal friends, mimic their animal sounds, and even learn a new language! When Cat the Cat meets a newcomer on the scene, the audience shares in the nerves and the joy of the experience, and ultimately makes a room full of new friends themselves. Be the first to see this world premiere Theatre for the production while it is still in its workshop form! Interactive Performances with Julie Austin and Mama Koku Saturday & Sunday 9:30 a.m. and Beloved children s musician Julie Austin will present two interactive performances in the on Saturday morning.
