Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated North Harris County Alumnae Chapter 12320 Barker Cypress Rd Ste 600 #229 Cypress, TX 77429 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION The North Harris County Alumnae Chapter (NHCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has developed this scholarship as a way to give back to local communities by offering financial assistance to distinguished graduating African-American students pursuing higher education. NHCAC will award scholarships on a competitive basis to qualified applicants. Applications may be obtained at Northharrisdeltas.org. GENERAL INFORMATION AND ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS: Δ African-American student graduating in 2016 from a high school in the chapter s service area (Service areas are as follows: Cypress, Humble, Jersey Village, Spring, and Tomball Texas) Δ Cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Δ Candidates must enroll in an accredited college or university for the 2016-2017 academic school year. To be considered, a completed application packet (the signed scholarship application, an official high school transcript in a sealed envelope with a raised seal, two signed and dated recommendation letters, the typed essay and a professional photo no larger than 3"x5" (i.e. Senior picture) MUST be postmarked by March 1, 2016. All completed applications received by the deadline will be screened and evaluated by the scholarship committee. The eligible applicants will be scheduled for an interview during the months of March/April. Scholarship awards will be announced in May. The scholarship award will be paid upon confirmation of college registration during the ensuing year of enrollment. The scholarship award must be claimed by December 31, 2016 and used within the academic school year in which the award was presented or the award will be forfeited.
