AP NYC FIELD TRIP SPRING 2018, SFHS SFHS April 4 - April 7

COST: $365.00 (based on 47 students) includes bus, hotel and breakfast at hotel, tee shirt, Tour of Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty

4 days, 3 Nights (April 4-7) 47 students maximum 1 bus, 6 AP Teachers 2 administrators

Departure Day 1: Wednesday, April 4, 2018 Loading Location: Front Parking Lot of South Florence High Student Check-in and Roll call: 5:00 am Boarding of Coach Bus: 5:15 am Coach Bus Departure Time: 5:30 am (sharp!)

Arrive at Quality Suites, Bergen, New Jersey, 6:30 PM, Dinner, and settle into Hotel Dinner Nearby, 7:15 to 8:30, (meal not included in price)

Day 2: Thursday, April 5, 2018 *All tours on this day will be on the southern end of Manhattan Island. 7:00-9:00 am: Free Breakfast Buffet at Hotel (Chaperone Huddle @ 8:30 am) 9:00 am: Board Coach Bus for NYC 10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Ferry Station for Liberty and Ellis Islands Tour (lunch at food court on Liberty Island - meal not included in price) (Ferry & Tour Fee included in the field trip cost)

Day 2: Thursday, April 5, 2018: Afternoon and Evening 2:30-3:30 pm: Large group View 9/11 Memorial (Free) 3:45-6:00 pm: Small groups: Wall Street - NASDAQ - Bull - Federal Hall - Other Museum Tours on the southern end of Manhattan Island 6:30-9:30 pm: Large/Small group dinner (meal not included in price) and shopping @ 5th Avenue/Rockefeller Center/Times Square ***Possible Broadway Show 9:30 pm - Board Coach Bus for Quality Suites hotel

Day 3: Friday, April 6, 2018: Morning/Midday 7:00-9:00 am: Free Breakfast Buffet at Hotel (Chaperone Huddle @ 8:30 am) 9:00 am: Board Coach Bus for NYC 10:00 am: Drop-off at Rockefeller Center 10:00 am - 2:30 pm: Small-group tours of museums/points of interest (get lunch during this time - meals and group tours not included in price)

Day 3: Friday, April 6, 2018: Afternoon/Evening 2:30 pm: Large group check-in at Rockefeller Center 2:45-6:00 pm: Tour Central Park or continue small-group tours of museums, etc. (tours not included in price) 6:00 pm: Board Coach Bus (Chaperones, if touring within a few blocks of Times Square, do a text-check-in and then walk to the restaurant 6:45-9:00 pm: Large group dinner (restaurant in/near Times Square; meal not included in price) *Possible Broadway Show : (THESE TICKETS ARE EXPENSIVE, not included in price, but at least one show is a great learning/entertainment experience, est. $150.00) 9:00 pm: Board Coach Bus for Quality Suites hotel

Day 4, Saturday, April 7, 2018 l 7:00-8:00 am: Free Breakfast Buffet AND Check-out of Quality Suites Hotel 8:00 am: Board Coach Bus and Depart for SFHS, Florence, SC 11:30-12:30 pm: 1-hour lunch stop at Arundel Mills Mall (meal not included in price) 4:00 pm: 30-minute restroom stop in Fredericksburg, VA (mall food court area; meal not included in price) 7:30 pm: 15-minute rest stop near Fayetteville, NC 9:00 pm: Arrive at South Florence High School

Options: Students and parents will be given options for a.m/p.m. activities via a Google form.

Understand that these activities have varying, extra costs. Every participating student should complete this form.

Keep in mind that some groups may have a math focus, a history/gov t/psych/art focus, and fun components.

What is going to cost extra and what might we expect to spend? Sub group payments: Broadway show, museum tickets, etc. monies due January 19th. For example, School of Rock tickets: $204; off-broadway Chicago $90 United Nations: $22 Museum of Math: $10 MOMA: $18 International Center for Photography $10 9/11 Museum $15 Lunch and Dinner ($15 - $30 each)

Options: Students and parents will be given options for a.m/p.m. activities via a Google form.

Fundraisers: Fundraisers: All fundraising needs completion by Winter Break Ms. Bibler and Ms. Franco will organize fundraisers with Mrs. Suggs; each student may fundraise as little or as much as he/she would like in order to individually defray the cost of the trip. All monies will be turned in to Ms. Bibler and Ms. Franco in Ms. Bibler s Room on Tuesdays from 3:30-3:45 pm or Fridays from 2:00-2:30 pm. MONIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT ANY OTHER TIME

Payment Due Dates: 1st deposit ($100.00 per student) September 15th. 2nd deposit ($100.00 per student) November 10th Last turn in date ($165.00) February 9th

For Board Approval and group safety, we will need the following information from students: Medical forms Permission slips Media usage agreement forms Insurance forms Emergency contact info Government ID for each student Possibly more!

Accommodations as in Zzzz. Students will sleep four to a room Please be flexible Rooms are already reserved at Quality Suites in North Bergen, New Jersey

Additional Information We will have biweekly or monthly morning meetings to build AP spirit and support our students in their AP Journey, both metaphorically and literally. AP Students past and present are welcome to join us for this exciting learning experience. Recruit others to join us in our quest to build a strong AP program!
