PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Children s Hospital of Pittsburgh of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center 2006 Present Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Led the organization to receive a successful Magnet Designation in July 2012 Oversaw the planning, operations, regulatory and move aspects of the transition to a new 10-acre, $650 million, 296-bed, stateof-the-art, green, paperless hospital and campus in May 2009. Serves as a key executive leader in supporting the hospital maintain the status of a top 10 children s hospital in the nation as recognized by U.S. News and World Report by overseeing approximately 1700 employees, including Nursing, Acute and Critical Care, Emergency Department, Environmental Services, Nutrition/Food Services, Police/Public Safety, Parking/Valet Services, Facilities/Maintenance, Social Work, Care Coordination, Patient Safety/Quality/Accreditation, Cardiac/Rehab Service Line, Cancer and Neuro Service Line, Epilepsy Center/EEG/EMU, Trauma/Injury Prevention, Hospital Emergency Preparedness, Cardiac service line, Transplant Service line, Child and Family Life, Transport/Flight Team, Respiratory, Periop/Surgical Services including offsite Ambulatory Surgical Facilities, Organizational development, training/development, Nursing Research, Neonatology and other support services. Served as the primary liaison and hospital lead during the arrival and care of the 54 Haitian Orphans after the earthquake in January 2011. Provided clinical and administrative leadership to nursing, support staff, surgical services and physicians to assure hospital s success to a fully automated electronic health record, resulting in HIMSS level 7 status, which represents the first pediatric hospital in the nation. 2
Collaborated strategically with surgeons to increase surgical volume 20% from 20,000 cases in 2006 to nearly 25,000 in 2013.
