Vol. XIX Issue 8 JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR. AMERICAN LEGION POST 11-11 9959 Wadsworth Blvd. Broomfield, CO 80021 Telephone: (303) 466-1278 August 2017 NEWSLETTER COMMANDER S CORNER Walt Lee Commander Well here we go again with a quick summer season August is upon us. I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July celebration wherever you were, we enjoyed ours at the Post. I want to thank all of the volunteers who prepared and cooked the hotdogs and hamburgers for the event and those who helped clean up and get the Post looking good. A reminder Post membership meetings are canceled for the months of August and September so the Post Officers can enjoy some needed time off during the summer months. Come out and enjoy! Its a great time. Our Adjutant, Larry Starley has been feeling under the weather lately. Lets wish him well and a speedy recovery. Support your Post. Come and visit with other Veterans, friends and family while eating one of the great meals prepared and served by our members. AUXILIARY As the Auxiliary is taking its reprieve for the summer months to regroup, spend more time with our loved ones, and travel-we can reflex on our mission, goals, accomplishments and future projects. Since we are on our summer break we don t have much to report. We do have some volunteer opportunities coming up. Three of our Auxiliary members are on the Legion s Car Show committee; Janet, Robyn, and Shirley. The ladies have asked the Auxiliary to help with this year s Car Show with making and selling breakfast burritos/biscuits and gravy and hosting a Bake Sale for the Saturday, August 19 th. Please see our Auxiliary Bulletin Boards for signup sheets and watch for email notices. During holiday season, we like to decorate the Post to make it feel more festive. We would like to put together a Decorating Committee that could oversee organizing the decorations, hanging the decorations, and taking down the decorations. If you love to decorate, get creative, spend some time with fellow Auxiliary members, please look for the signup sheet posted throughout the Post. Live The Auxiliary Motto- Service not Self! Stacey Honeyman, Auxiliary President Keep our Veterans wherever they my be in your thoughts and prayers. Walt Lee, Commander
PAGE 2 Who is God CHAPLAIN God is the substance of all human virtues. He is allwise and all knowing, he is all good, and love. It is known that God is omnipotent (all-powerful) omniscient (all-knowing) omnipresent (presenteverywhere). God is a spirit: eternal and ever-living; with no beginning and no end. God is the father of all creation, creator of all things. He is all powerful and sustains the universe. God named himself to the early Jews, as Yahweh, translated "Jehovah or Lord". Scholars believe that this is the "hiphil" tense of the Hebrew verb "to be" and means "he who causes (everything else) to be.
