ComStar, LLC partners with Cumberland University to coordinate the ComStar Telecommunications Technician CSP. The ComStar CSP is designed for active duty Veterans, who are able to attend a 3-week and one day training program. Students may elect to participate in either the Basic Tower Technician or Basic Site Technician Certificate concentration in the ComStar Telecommunications Technician CSP. Upon successful completion of the 3-week plus one day certificate program, the veteran will be guaranteed an interview with a hiring manager from one or more of our partnered Telecommunications Industry employers. Hiring managers will be given the opportunity to visit and observe the cohort during the 3-week course to access and prioritize each applicant s attentiveness and participation while in training. All efforts will be made by ComStar, LLC to place the graduate in a location he/she is interested in working and is qualified. However there is no job location preference guarantee. Location: ComStar, LLC - 8351 Eastgate Boulevard - Mt. Juliet, TN 37122 Training: Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (16-day program, totaling 128 clock hours, per concentration) Cost: VA Educational Benefits (Approx. 3 months and 10 days of benefits will cover the program using Post 9-11). Only those veterans who desire this career field should apply. Those veterans with personal issues, family challenges that would prohibit them from attending all classes should not apply. Students are expected to attend all classes. It is the responsibility of the student to provide prior notification if circumstances prevent attendance at a particular class, and the student must arrange with the instructor for timely make-up sessions. Any student whose attendance falls below 95% will result in administrative removal from the program, as well as forfeiture of tuition and fees. Violation of the Attendance Policy will result in immediate termination of VA educational benefits and the student will be indebted to the VA for the forfeited tuition and fees. Any authorized absences resulting from mitigating circumstances, must be preapproved by the school Director, to avoid dismissal from the program. I understand that ComStar Telecommunications Technician Certificate Training is a full-time, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 3-week and 1 day CSP I understand that I must be recommended by my chain of command, be interviewed and accepted into the program by Cumberland University and ComStar, LLC. I have a high school diploma or GED certificate. I possess a current, valid, state issued Driver s License and I understand that during my training program I must maintain a clean driving record and have no criminal convictions. If retiring, I understand that extension/early separation is non-applicable. I understand that re-enlisting or extending my service obligation while in the program to stay in the Army beyond 30 days after the course graduation date will be cause for immediate termination from training. I understand that I must complete the Soldier for Life requirements prior to class start date & provide a copy of my DD 2648 (NOV 16) Form (or print out of future appointments). I understand that there are physical requirements of the occupation and that I shall be required to submit a physician s approval (DOT or On-Base Physical) before being accepted into the ComStar CSP program. I will complete a resume to program standards, and keep it up to date with training certifications obtained. I understand that upon successful completion, my job placement may be in the states of Alabama/Tennessee/Kentucky. I understand that transportation to and from the ComStar, LLC training facility is the responsibility of the student. I understand I am expected to attend all classes. We understand that our support of this program allows the service member to participate in an accelerated training program in a high demand industry. We understand that the service member may request voluntary early separation to their enlistment obligation to meet program end date. We will support the service member s participation and attendance in this program, if selected, for the entire 4, 8 or 12 weeks of the training and understand the Service member s place of duty (Monday thru Friday) is the training program site. We can request attendance information at any time from the Education Center as all Soldiers are required to sign in and out of all ComStar CSP classes.
