Section 2 Ireland 2016 Grant Please read below guidelines to see if your application will qualify for consideration for funding. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, in association with Ireland 2016 and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht wants to develop a programme of events for Ireland 2016 to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising in each local authority area. Funding is now available for local groups, organsiations and other interested parties to play their part by developing a project, or projects, to mark this important event. Ireland 2016 is a National initiative to develop, coordinate and deliver a programme for the 2016 centenary year with local, national, and international events, based on five intersecting themes, drawing inspiration from the ideals of 1916, the Proclamation, and the events of that time. It is a call to action to REMEMBER the events of 1916, REFLECT on the last 100 years, and RE-IMAGINE Ireland s future. What is the purpose of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council s Ireland 2016 grant fund? The key objective of the Fund is to provide support to local/community event organisers and activities/projects. The Fund is being administered by the Council s Ireland 2016 Steering Committee which includes both Councillors and Council staff. What Fund amounts are available? Fund amounts will be directly related to the project s relevance to the below listed themes. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Ireland 2016 Steering Group will evaluate each application. Who is eligible to apply? It is open to groups, organisations or individuals that are organising community events/activities/projects in 2015 or 2016. To be eligible for 3
funding, the event / project must be based in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and take place before the 31 st October 2016. The Five Themes: In order to be successful, projects must correspond with one or more of the following themes: Remember Commemorating the historic events of 1916 in the full context of our history with a specific focus on the area now covered by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and the people associated with this area. Reconcile confronting the divisions of the past and reflect on how the ideals of the Proclamation were rekindled and contributed to reconciliation Imagine engaging with all of our people to challenge our assumptions to re-imagine our legacy for future generations Present Showing how as a Republic we took our place among the nations expressing our individuality through our own distinctive culture Celebrate the idealism of the Proclamation, exemplified by our legacy of UN peacekeeping, and the developmental and humanitarian work of Irish Aid and our NGOs Criteria: The following must be demonstrated: The extent to which the proposed initiative is aligned to one or more of the five themes of Ireland 2016 4
The extent to which the proposed initiatives maximize community and citizen engagement and mobilization around the key Ireland 2016 themes The extent to which the proposed initiative connects with the events of the 1916 Easter Rising and the area now covered by DLR The extent to which the project proposed is unique, innovative, creative, interesting and likely to make an impact The potential scope of the project within DLR and anticipated target audience The cost of executing the proposed project Any additional supports and funding that may be required and have been secured from relevant stakeholders The feasibility of project completion within the timeframe allocated The Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday the 29 th May 2015 5
