2 M i n n esot a 20 18 Wi l d f i re Acad em y MNICS The Minnesota Incident Command system (MNICS) is w ork an interagency group with state and federal partners that cooperate to manage wildfires and all risk incidents. MNICS provides standard procedures and common terminology to support emergency response. The organization is governed by a Task Force of agency leads who report to a Board of Directors. Wildfire Academy will use an incident management team (IMT) to run the weeklong event. The incident command system (ICS) is an efficient way to manage people, equipment and resources for daily academy operations. Under the ICS structure, the MNICS IMT works closely with Minnesota 2018 Wildfire Academy partners: MNICS member agencies are the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS), National Park Service (NPS), Minnesota Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM). Exofficio members include the Minnesota State Fire Marshal (SFM) and the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association (MSFCA). The 2018 Minnesota Itasca Community College (ICC) Itasca Area Schools Collaborative Education (IASCE) Northern Central Research and Outreach Center (NROC) Visit Grand Rapids The MNICS IMT will be on hand during the weeklong academy. Trainees work on their National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) qualificatio for red card qualification.
