Two Students Receive the Prestigious Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Award at Canisius College BUFFALO - The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Awards for Excellence in the Graduate Accounting Programs at Canisius College were presented during the Annual Accounting Banquet that was held on April 27, 2017. This year there were two recipients of the prestigious award: Mr. Joseph Kassel, a graduating student from the MBA Program in Professional Accounting, and Mr. Adam Harris, a graduating student from the MBA Accounting Program. These prestigious awards were given to the two graduating students who have not only excelled in the rigorous academic program of Canisius College but who have also demonstrated the potential for contribution to the accounting profession. The awards were presented on behalf of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh by Dr. Edward J. Gress, the Director of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Center for Business Research at Canisius College. In receiving the awards, both awardees expressed their gratitude to HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for supporting the study of accounting internationally. They have also expressed their admiration of Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and his accomplishments in building the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization in a critical part of the world. In presenting the awards Dr. Gress thanked HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for seeing in Canisius College an accounting program that is worthy of his support. The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Award for Excellence in the Graduate Accounting Programs at Canisius College was established in 1989 and has been given each year to a graduate from the MBA Program in Professional Accounting or from the 150 Hours MBA Program in Accounting. Outstanding graduating students who meet certain criteria are invited to apply for this prestigious award and the winner is selected by a committee from the Canisius College Council on Accountancy.
ASREN Supports Quality, Research and Education in West and Central Africa ABIDJAN - West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN) conducted its third annual conference WACREN 2017 in Abidjan. The main theme of the conference was "Catalyzing Quality Higher Education and Research" with subthemes on advanced networks, applications and services, trust, identity and security in addition to NRENs and communities This year's conference brought together policy and decision makers, scientists, researchers, network managers, collaboration specialists, e-learning, identity and access management experts, and connectivity and equipment providers from across Africa and the rest of the world. The conference was preceded by two workshops on cybersecurity and engagement with librarians as interfaces with the end-users. The event was also collocated with AfricaConnect2 meeting, a joint MAGIC/TANDEM/Sci-GaIA workshop and the Final Event of the TANDEM project. Yousef Torman, executive director of ASREN participated in the conference and the workshops and participated in several roundtable discussions and meetings. He also chaired one of the main sessions and sent a goodwill message during the high level official opening ceremony on current collaboration and future avenues to extend cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Africa Training Initiative. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization Signs MoU With Shenyang Normal University AMMAN - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) promoting academic exchange and cooperation between China and Jordan was signed between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Shenyang Normal University. The MoU, signed by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of TAG-Org and Mr. Lin Qun, President of Shenyang University, will last for three years. The main principles and goals of the Memorandum include cooperation in the following ways: 1. The promotion of academic exchange and cooperation between China and Jordan with parties particular focus on discussing potential collaboration on a non-exclusive basis. This will be done under the background of The Belt and Road policy with the platform of TAG-Confucius Institute on the basis of friendship, equality and mutual benefit. 2. With the platform of TAG-Confucius Institute, to provide consultant service on the law and economic policies for the Chinese entrepreneurs investing in the Arab countries. 3. To open courses in Arabic language to the students in Shenyang Normal University in the way of online and face to face education. 4. To cooperate in the internship in the area of Intellectual Property. 5. To jointly train the talents needed for the cooperation between China and Jordan under the background of the Belt and Road policy.
