Job Description Job Title: Health IDVA Team Leader - Hospital Salary: 27,249 pa Report to: IDVA Service Manager Responsible for: Oversee work of IDVA s and Volunteers Main Purpose: To be the single point of contact for the Health IDVA team. Support and line manage a team of Health IDVAs to provide a high-quality frontline service to victims of domestic abuse within the Hospital setting. Participate in the implementation and delivery of the DAISY service model across the 3 hospital sites, developing the partnerships and work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Deliver training and support aimed at improving the health, wellbeing and safety outcomes of people attending the department and their children. Key Responsibilities: Corporate 1. To maintain and demonstrate a commitment to the Organisation s vision and values and strategic aims and objectives. 2. To maintain high standards of professionalism and keep abreast of current legislation, standards, best practice and maintain a focus of continuous improvement. 3. To maintain knowledge of the Organisation s operating environment. Main Tasks Training and support for clinical staff 1. To provide a rolling programme of training and support clinical staff, which delivers a measurable improvement of their awareness of the nature of domestic violence; the clinical presentations of DV in their practice setting; the impact of domestic violence on the clinical outcomes they seek to deliver; their responsibilities in respect of routine enquiry and responding to a positive response including safeguarding; how to undertake routine enquiry in a way which is supportive and acceptable to the client and how to interpret how the clients responds; the resources available in the community to support victims; how to refer to the Daisy service, how the service works. 2. To provide an easily accessible source of expertise and support to individual clinicians in the management of individual cases as required. Support to clients in general setting: 1. Work with victims of domestic abuse to help them access services to keep them and their children safe. 2. Advocate for victims with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse by: I. Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to domestic abuse victims and how your role fits into them. II. Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance. III. Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated particularly through the MARAC.

3. Manage a case load ensuring each client receives the appropriate service individual to their needs. 4. Support the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives. Support to patients within the health setting: 1. To take referrals from clinicians in response to routine enquiry or other disclosure and provide a timely response. 2. Where there has been police involvement in respect of the incident, liaise with the police Central Referral unit and take necessary measures to ensure the victim is contacted and offered support. 3. For high risk clients liaise directly with the general practice to ensure that they have received and noted the alert and they know how to access additional support from Safer Places, either for their patient directly, or to support them in their management of the case. Also refer to MARAC as per area procedures. 4. To provide one to one support to victims affected by domestic violence either personally or through a bridged referral to other Safer Places services or any other agencies who can offer support that the woman feels able to accept. 5. Where providing direct support personally: Assess the risk and needs of each client and their family and agree, implement and review plans to minimise risk, meet needs and promote wellbeing using the tools specifically designed for the project and ensure clients know how to access the 24 hour helpline. Work closely with external agencies to meet the clients support needs where those needs are specialist e.g. Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Legal etc and signposting and support clients to access the community based services. Ensure that all safeguarding measures are delivered in respect of the client and their children. Support clients to improve their resilience and prospects by encouraging engagement with the various programmes and opportunities offered within the service such as specialist programmes for people who have experienced domestic abuse, improving numeracy and literacy, ESOL, Reaching Out, Employability and other programmes etc. 6. Where client has chosen to be supported within our wider service liaise with other Safer Places colleagues to ensure appropriate handover and ongoing communication and ensure that all assessments and monitoring required for the evaluation of the Daisy project are undertaken 7. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with nurses and doctors, the safeguarding team and other clinical colleagues working in partnership with the Hospital. 8. Act in a professional manner at all times, maintaining excellent records and communicating effectively with colleagues and partners, maintaining appropriate relationships at all times with clients, colleagues and partners and complying with Safer Places policies and procedures. 9. To maintain excellent monitoring records for the service and participate in and provide regular reports to the project board for the Daisy project identifying the extent to which the specific outcomes attached to the project are being delivered and make recommendations to support the continuous improvement of the project, 10. Support IDVA manager to collate and contribute to annual service reviews which include monitoring data, evaluations, intake and output policy, and practice and work load reviews for the whole service. 11. Facilitate group work and training to other agencies as required. Support to team: 1. Provide day to day supervision and support to the Health IDVA team 2. In accordance with Safer Places case management policy: Be proactive with your line

manager in carrying out periodic case reviews based on a review of risk and abuse which: 3. Feeds back into action planning to further progress, signpost or close cases and; 4. Provides feedback to your clients/agencies. 5. Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases 6. Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work. 7. Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice. 8. Support the IDVA manager to ensure that there is a consistent delivery of services to victims, including risk assessment, safety planning, referrals to other agencies and MARACs. 9. Be the lead professional within the IDVA service for the DAISY service model 10. Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the service works in, providing a service that recognises the diverse needs of victims. General 1. Understand Safeguarding and child protection issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues. Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children. Understand the remits and resources of relevant statutory bodies and voluntary agencies. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice. Have computer literacy skills and have some experience of working with databases. Hold a CAADA/ Safelives IDVA training certificate, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification. Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations. Have excellent analytical and report writing skills sufficient to monitor and evaluate this critical project QUALIFICATIONS Hold a CAADA/ Safelives IDVA training certificate, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification.
