COURSE OVERVIEW 2018 marks the 19th anniversary of Children s Hospital of Philadelphia annual Advanced Practice Provider Conference. The conference covers timely professional topics and up-todate clinical care of children and adolescents who present with complex medical and behavior issues. Opportunities for interactive learning and professional networking will augment the didactic component of the sessions. The conference is targeted to advanced practice providers in primary care and acute/chronic specialties. MEETING LOCATION The conference will be held May 31 and June 1, 2018, at the Union League of Philadelphia located on the Avenue of the Arts in the heart of Center City. The Union League is just 20 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport and within walking distance of exclusive shopping, world-class restaurants, art museums and historical sites. Professor and Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Senior Fellow, Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, is the Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and Director of the School s WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing and Midwifery Leadership. As a bilingual and bicultural nurse researcher, Villarruel has extensive research and practice experience. She chairs the National Academy of Medicine s Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity. Villarruel is a Trustee of the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation and an invited member of the Aspen Health Strategy Group. Acting Secretary of Health and Physician General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, is currently the Acting Secretary of Health and Physician General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine. Her accomplishments at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center include the initiation of a Division of Adolescent Medicine for the care of complex teens with medical and psychological problems. DRESS CODE AT THE UNION LEAGUE The Union League requires that a jacket be worn by men dining in its restaurants, including the Marble Dining Rooms, Café Meredith, Boker Room and the Old Cafe. Jackets are not required at breakfast or Saturday lunch, which will be business casual. Business casual is defined as a collared shirt and slacks for men and appropriate attire for women. Jeans or other denim wear, athletic attire, T-shirts, shorts, baseball caps, sneakers or tattered clothes are never permitted on the first or second floor of the League House (where the restaurants and meeting rooms are located). REGISTRATION FEES The registration fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, reception and program materials. Full conference: $325 One day: $225 COURSE OBJECTIVES Describe current practice considerations for treating primary care and acute care pediatric patients Identify opportunities for a holistic approach to caring for the pediatric patient Explain pediatric-specific behavioral health challenges faced by advanced practice providers in the clinical setting Review preventative measures for optimizing the safety and well-being of the pediatric patient Identify strategies that will enable APPs to function at full scope of practice CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION APPROVED PROVIDER STATEMENT Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. ACCME ACCREDITATION STATEMENT Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians. AMA CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT Children s Hospital of Philadelphia designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS Children s Hospital of Philadelphia has reserved a block of rooms with reduced rates at The Inn at the League, 1450 Sansom St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19102 (215-587-5570). The Inn at the League has recently renovated, four-diamond quality hotel rooms and suites in the same building as the conference site. The group rates are $235 single and double occupancy plus a 7 percent room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the Inn directly at 215-587-5570. The special room rate will be available until Monday, April 30, 2018. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY Children s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children s Hospital of Philadelphia will refund any registration fees, less a $40 service charge, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellation must be received in writing by Monday, May 14, 2018. No refunds will be issued thereafter.
