A Note From the Executive Director The holidays are always a favorite time of year at The Social. Not only do we take the time to enjoy the present, it s always fun to look back at the busy year we ve had. With a staff of 2 and over 50 volunteers, The Social does some pretty amazing things and it s time to celebrate. So far this year, we ve: Raised nearly $300,000 dollars through donations, grants and fundraisers (our electric bill alone is $700 a month!) Held 10 successful fundraisers Hosted our biggest Holiday Craft & Gift Show ever! Welcomed over 260 NEW Members Served over 7,200 patrons in the Food Pantry Installed a new ramp & automatic doors openers through a grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation Re-painted our Café during the United Way of Johnson County Day of Caring Received a $9,000 grant to expand our Rock Steady Boxing program Hosted the Secretary of State, Connie Lawson, for her fraud seminar and documentary Started the process of a grant through OCRA, to address issues with space and layout of our building Developed a building fund to raise our match needed for the OCRA grant ($55,000) Began a legacy fund to secure The Social s future What a wonderful year it has been and this is just the tip of the iceberg! None of this would be possible without our dedicated Volunteers, Board Members (who are volunteers too!) and so many of you. Thank you. I hope your holidays are filled with peace, goodwill & joy! Andrea Sutherland Executive Director

Around the Center Meet our December Volunteer of the Month, Sue Day! Sue volunteers for our Rock Steady Boxing program as a Corner Woman. She became involved when her husband, Skip Day, joined the program. Sue also volunteers her time at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and The Benjamin Harrison Home. In her spare time, she loves to read, sew and spend time with her wonderful grandchildren! A huge THANK YOU to Sue for your dedication to the program. You are SO loved! Volunteer of the Month In November, 45 of our members took a trip to St. Augustine, Florida. During their time there they enjoyed a narrated cruise on the St. Johns River, visited Amelia Island, Jacksonville and St. Augustine as well as drank from The Fountain of Youth!* *Results to be determined Best Dressed Guests of our Sparkles & Spurs Event in October!
