Page 2 New Officers Elected to Section Board New Section Officers were elected at the 1302 Section and Sub-Section meeting in York in March. By acclamation, the following positions were filled: David McCracken will continue next fiscal year as the Section Chair. Likewise, Becky Nickel will again serve in the position of Section Secretary. Retuning board member, Jon Ridgway has agreed to take on the duties of Section Treasurer. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NEW SECTION OFFICERS! Joseph M. Juran 1904-2008 The new board officers will begin their new duties on July 1, 2008. Thanks to all of the Section Officers for their Hard Work and Time It is most important that top management be quality-minded. Randy Nelson, the Scholarship Chairperson has organized a Scholarship Committee which is now reviewing the applications and essays. They will be making nominations and selecting awardees over the next couple weeks. Awards meeting will be held at Mahoney state park again. Further details will be announced on the section website. We all anxiously await the committee s selection of Scholarship winners, and look forward to meeting the scholarship winners in person at the May meeting. The annual Phil Shanline Scholarship

Page 3 National Service Quality Section offers Conference Promotion they will be entered in to a drawing for a free registration and up to $750 US in travel expenses The Service Quality Section of ASQ is offering a unique promotion this World Conference on Quality and Improvement (WCQI). For any of our section members attending WCQI and that join the Service Quality Division (SQD), they will be entered in to a drawing for a free registration and up to $750 US in travel expenses to attend the SQD Fall Conference in Orlando, FL as gusts of the SQD leadership committee. If they have a friend or coworker that joins SQD, they will be given one chance to win. The friend will just need to let us know that they are the sponsor. The annual E-Week Open House runs from 9:00 to 3:00 Friday April 25th in the engineering complex (Othmer Hall, Walter Scott Engineering Center, Nebraska Hall) During E Week open house, senior engineering students display their research projects, corporate representatives host booths to promote their companies, and high school E Week: Since 1913 Watch Engineering Students Using the Tools of the Trade students partake in information sessions and hands-on activities that highlight the benefits of becoming an engineer. This year, in an effort to promote student membership and start a Student ASQ section at UNL, the ASQ board is presenting a program to students about the benefits of ASQ membership.
