2013 Infection Prevention Training Exhibitor & Sponsorship Prospectus Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers & Education for the Prevention of Infection (EPI )

About APIC The mission of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology is to create a safer world through prevention of infection. The association s more than 14,000 members direct infection prevention programs that save lives and improve the bottom line for hospitals and other healthcare facilities. APIC advances its mission through patient safety, implementation science, competencies and certification, advocacy, and data standardization. About APIC Infection Prevention Training Courses APIC infection prevention training courses teach practical and complex issues in everyday language. Attendees learn first-hand from board certified (CIC ) experts through a less lecture, more hands on approach that will build their ability to enhance the infection prevention program at their facilities. And the training doesn t end in the classroom. Courses feature post-event online webinars that reinforce the topics so that attendees are well prepared to meet their next challenge in infection prevention. 2

APIC provides high quality clinical education in infection prevention through three live courses. Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) This two day novice level course is designed for healthcare professionals working in infection prevention in ambulatory care settings, and will cover topics related to regulatory requirements and implementation of evidence-based interventions. Participants learn how to develop an effective infection prevention program to protect patients and comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) conditions for coverage. EPI 101: The Fundamentals of Infection Surveillance, Prevention, and Control This three day novice level course is designed to help guide individuals new to infection prevention and control. Interactive activities enable participants to define goals for an effective infection prevention program and outline a program plan. Course content highlights both clinical and program management knowledge essential for all infection preventionists. EPI 201: Advancing Practice Using Epidemiologic Principles This three day proficient level course is appropriate for individuals who are more experienced in infection prevention and control, or for those who have already taken the EPI 101 course and are ready to move to the next level of critical thinking to improve practice and outcomes. Group work and case studies allow participants to further examine infection prevention program goals and study a variety of approaches.
