ICC INTERNATIONAL COURT OF ARBITRATION AND ICC YAF The ICC International Court of Arbitration has a distinguished and long standing history of international dispute resolution spanning over 90 years. Since its creation in 1923, the ICC Court has handled over 20,000 cases located worldwide. In 2013, parties from South & East Asia accounted for 13.5% of the total number of parties involved in new cases commenced with the ICC Court. In December 2008, the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration established its first branch outside Paris in Hong Kong. Staffed by a case management team with the professional, cultural and linguistic expertise required for handling cases linked to South and East Asia, the office brings a new proximity to the Court's services (contact Pui-Ki Ta Emmanuelle, Counsel of the Secretariat, ICC International Court of Arbitration Asia Office; ica8@iccwbo.org or telephone +852 3607 5600). In line with the ICC's commitment to the Asia Pacific region, in recognition of its growing importance in dispute resolution services, the ICC created the ICC Regional Office, Asia in Singapore in December 2009, as a dedicated liaison office for the promotion and business development aspects of the ICC Dispute Resolution Services. It promotes ICC's dispute resolution services in the region and also organises training programmes and regional arbitration forums (contact Abhinav Bhushan, Director, ICC Arbitration and ADR, South Asia Tel: +65 6814-0247; abhinav.bhushan@iccasia.org). The ICC was the first non-asian headquartered dispute resolution institution to establish an office in mainland China in 2016 (contact Mingchao Fan, Director, ICC Arbitration and ADR, North Asia Tel: +86 21 6194 6611; Mingchao.FAN@iccwbo.org). WHAT IS ICC YAF? ICC YAF is a global network of almost 6000 members spread across five Regional Chapters (Africa, Middle East & Turkey; Asia; Europe & Russia; Latin America; and North America). Its mission is to bring together young lawyers and in-house counsel to strengthen ties among younger members of the international arbitration community and provide networking opportunities. ICC YAF organizes an average of 50 events per year worldwide. These are "local" initiatives to attract the younger generation of arbitration practitioners to get together and share experiences in arbitration. ICC YAF events are organized in traditional arbitration hubs like London, Paris, Hong Kong, New York, as well as in cities like Quito, Punta Cana, Kiev, Ramallah and Lagos. Such ICC YAF conferences are most often hosted by a law firm. They are short, interactive and are usually followed by networking drinks or another social activity. ICC YAF's activities are globally coordinated by the ICC YAF Global Coordinating Committee (GCC) and organized in each region by the ICC YAF Regional Head of Chapter. Becoming a member of ICC YAF is simple and free: visit www.iccyaf.org and enter your contact details on the "How to get involved" page. Once you are registered, ICC YAF will send you the latest information on the range of events organized in your region. For further questions, please contact Abhinav Bhushan (abhinav.bhushan@iccasia.org) and Mingchao Fan (Mingchao.FAN@iccwbo.org).

ASIA-PACIFIC FORUM FOR INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION (AFIA) AFIA provides practitioners, especially younger members, with a forum to discuss issues and developments in international arbitration, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region. AFIA currently has over 500 members globally, with a strong presence in Asia-Pacific. Since its inauguration in 2004, AFIA has held regular symposia in the Asia-Pacific region, where attendees participate in informal discussions and can ask questions and share knowledge based on their international arbitration experience. Each of the discussions is led by a more experienced panel and is based on topics suggested by members and circulated to attendees prior to the symposium. The topics range from current legal developments both in the region and further abroad, to practical hints on the conduct of international arbitration. We welcome attendees from all professional backgrounds, irrespective of their level of expertise or experience in the area of international arbitration. AFIA provides an important opportunity for the forging of professional relationships amongst practitioners spanning the Asia-Pacific region and globally. It also offers opportunities for its members to benefit from AFIA's developing associations with similar organisations around the world. Membership of AFIA is free. For further questions about AFIA, please contact the Cochairs Jonathan Lim (Jonathan.Lim@wilmerhale.com) and Elodie Dulac (edulac@kslaw.com). Those interested in joining should contact Monica Chong Wan Yee, Secretary of AFIA (monicawy.chong@wongpartnership.com). Information about AFIA is available at www.afia.asia. ABOUT HK 45 HK45 is a group for professionals who are under 45 years of age and who are interested in the practice of arbitration.
