2! JiJL 2w" Page 1 Function Organization The Government is one of the largest users of Information Technology (IT) and is also the largest employer of IT professionals in Hong Kong. It is an established policy of the Government that full advantage should be taken of modern information technology. The Information Technology Services (ITSD) is responsible for the overall Government IT Programme. ITSD provides total IT services to departments, which include the development of information system strategies, services for the full system development cycle, iirplementation of approved IT programmes and processing of cases related to conputer equipment and software purchases. Some 70 Government departments and policy branches are served by ITSD directly. ITSD also provides similar IT services to some quasi-government organizations with prior service agreements. ITSD is responsible for the implementation of an IT infrastructure within the Government by introducing and maintaining a Government s Architecture; developing and enforcing IT standards and methodologies; and operating common conputer facilities for the shared use by Government departments. Mission To advise the Government on all policy matters related to the use of IT. To implement the Government's established policy that full advantage shall be taken of modern IT. <j* t *e.

Page 2 Organization Structure The department is headed by the Director of Information Technology Services and is organised in five main branches :- Director of Information Technology Services Branch A Branch Dl Branch D2 Branch M Branch T Schedule Branch A (Administration) is responsible for general administration and personnel matters, financial appraisal, quality assurance, career development, training and data preparation support. Branch D (al Services) 1 Branch D (al Services) 2 are responsible for the formulation of IT strategies, design, iicplementation, operation and subsequent system maintenance of computer projects for various Government departments. Branch M (Management Consultancy Services) is responsible for establishing the justification for computer projects, review of data-sharing and function-sharing, guidelines for the use of iidc^ocoitputers and management consultancy- Branch T (Technical Services) is responsible for the provision and coordination of government-wide technical services and activities, operation and bureau support, formulation of technical standards, the operation of two disaster recovery centres, data administration, privacy and data protection. Computing Services in Government s Officers of Analyst/Programmer, Conputer Operator and Data Processor grades are posted to a number of Government departments for the design, iitplementation, data entry, operation, technical support and subsequent system maintenance of computer projects.

Entry Qualifications for Computer Operator II Qualifications (A) Grade E or above in 5 subjects, including $9,105 English Language (Syllabus B), in the Hong (MPS 8) Kong Certificate of Education, or equivalent; and (B) at least one year relevant experience in the control and operation of a conputer system or coitputer application, OR the provision of support services to terminal network users.
