Movember Translation Acceleration Grant 2018 - FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and Tipsheet Research Topic Predictive Markers 1. What is the topic for this competition? Projects funded by this TAG mechanism will validate existing putative markers or tests in patient samples, either retrospectively or within a clinical trial. Assays can be biospecimen or imaging markers or other appropriate tests including histology or bioinformatics. This request for applications (RFA) solicits proposals from groups developing and validating methods to specifically and accurately predict treatment response and/or patient outcome using an appropriate assay. The end goal is clinical validation of the approach and more accurate and personalized selection of treatments for patients with prostate cancer. Funding amount and co-funding 2. My project exceeds $1.5M, can I submit it for co-funding with another agency that is reviewing it concurrently? PCC will allow a proposal with an overall budget greater than that available from this competition; however the amount requested from PCC cannot exceed $1.5M and for funding to be released, the awardee must provide evidence that the funds are available for the part of the program not supported by PCC. More than one application 3. Is someone who is currently funded as a PI or Co-PI on an existing PCC grant eligible to be a PI or Co-PI on a grant for this upcoming competition? Someone who is currently funded by PCC on another grant, as a PI, Co-PI or Co-Investigator, such as a TAG or Discovery grant, is eligible to submit an application in this new competition. 4. Can I be a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on multiple submissions? No, you can only be named as a PI or Co-PI on one application in this competition; however you may be named as a Co-Investigator or Collaborator any number of times. Application components 5. Does the application have to consist of a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional team? It is expected that a multidisciplinary approach will be required and each application may consist of independent investigators based in multiple institutions. 6. Is there a preferred CV format? We hope to be able to continue this in future years. However the topic of future RFAs remains to be determined. Eligible Applicants? 8. Can I name a Co-investigator from outside Canada? Can funds be designated to support an international team member? Eligible applicants must be located at an eligible Canadian host institution. International researchers can be named as collaborators on your application and this is done at the full application stage. PCC does not provide direct financial support to researchers who are out of country. The only way research funds can be sent out of country is on a fee-for-service basis. 9.
