Congratulations! Based on your application and your director s nomination, you have been selected to participate in the Tenth Annual Auburn University Marching Honor Band, sponsored by Auburn University Bands and the Auburn Athletic Department. The football game will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, Auburn vs. San Jose State. This is an exciting opportunity for you to perform with the Sudler-award-winning Auburn University Marching Band in one of the most energetic stadiums in the country. Registration: Attached to the invitation is a waiver that MUST be signed by a parent/guardian in order to participate in this event. This document can also be found on the AU Band website. Please send the signed waiver and a check for $50.00 made payable to Auburn University Band (do not send cash) to: Auburn University Marching Honor Band 132 Goodwin Music Building Auburn University, AL 36849-5421 In order for you to participate, the registration material must be received by Friday, August 29, 2014. If your waiver and participation fee is not received by the deadline, your name will be removed as a participant, and a substitute will be put in your place. Check in: Check in will be held at the Auburn University Marching Band Practice Field on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Auxiliary participants (Danceline, Flagline, Majorettes) and Percussion will register from 9:30-10:00 a.m. All other participants will register from 10:00-10:45 a.m. A full schedule of events is attached. What you receive: Upon check in, you will receive an AU Honor Band T-shirt (to be worn at the performance) and a commemorative medal. A box meal will be provided after rehearsal. What to bring: All participants, including percussionists and sousaphones, must participate with personal instruments. Participants are also responsible for accessories (flip folder, lyre, oil, reeds, etc.). The uniform for the game will include Navy shorts, White tennis shoes, and White socks. An AU Honor Band T-shirt will be provided. Participants should be prepared for inclement weather. All personal items (including cases) should be clearly labeled with your name, school, home address, and telephone number. Auburn University is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to participant s personal belongings. Music: Part placements are assigned by the Auburn Band staff and are posted online. Music for the event will be posted on the Marching Honor Band page of the Auburn Band website for participants to practice for the event. Select the instrument and part to which you have been assigned and print the pdf file. Music will also be available at registration for the event. Hotels: Each participant is responsible for any hotel or travel expenses incurred as part of the event. Local hotels can be found in Auburn, Opelika, Montgomery, Valley, Lanett, Alexander City and LaGrange, GA.

Maps and Parking: An attached map denotes event locations and suggested parking for Marching Honor Band participants and accompanying family members, friends, and/or directors. It is very important that all drivers review the drop-off procedure map for the AU Band Field and follow the directions outlined on the map. Please note: Honor Band participants and guests cannot park in the lots directly adjacent to the band field, nor can they enter the lot to drop off students. Unauthorized cars entering that lot will be blocked in by Auburn University Marching Band students arriving for practice. PLEASE NOTE, THE WALK TO THE BAND FIELD AND ESPECIALLY THE STADIUM FROM THE DESIGNATED PARKING EREA IS LONG. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. If you need disability parking, please visit the following website: http://www.auburntigers.com/gameday/parkingandtraffic.html Drop Off and Pick Up: Participants should be dropped off at the Auburn University Band Practice Field (see map) prior to registration and rehearsal on Saturday morning. Participants who park at the designated lot close to the Band Field will be escorted back to the Band Practice Field following the halftime performance. Other participants can be picked up in front of Goodwin Music Building (see map) in the third quarter or after the game. Participants have the option of staying to watch the remainder of the game, but there will be no official escorts to the Band Practice Field or to Goodwin Hall after the game. Those parents/chaperones attending the game should meet students for pick up outside of Gate 9 (South Endzone) at the beginning of the 3 rd Quarter or at the end of the game. Parents/Chaperones attending the game also have the option of telling participants to remain in the Marching Honor Band seats at the end of the game for pick up. Medical information: Parents will be informed of any emergency medical situation that occurs and will be responsible for all medical expenses incurred. Students with special medical needs or problems should provide the Auburn University Band Staff with a detailed written account. Auburn University is not liable in the event of an accident or personal injury. Ticket Information: Student participants in the Marching Honor Band do not need tickets. Parents, other family members, friends, and/or chaperones need tickets in order to attend the game. Tickets should be ordered from the Auburn University Athletic Department. Seats are $45 for lower level and $30 for upper level. Please use the following procedure to order tickets: 1. Go to auburntigers.com 2. Click TICKETS (top left) and then select ORDER ONLINE (second box) 3. Find ENTER PROMOTIONAL CODE at top right Enter code: AU-HONORBAND 4. Select SAN JOSE STATE 5. Add the number of tickets you would like and then click ADD TO CART 6. Follow the prompts to checkout, you will be redirected to create an account 7. Click REGISTER at the bottom right and follow prompts 8. Pay for the tickets and the process is complete Rules and Regulations: Use of tobacco, alcohol, or controlled substances by students while attending the Auburn University Marching Honor Band is prohibited. Prompt attendance at all events is required and proper behavior is expected at all times. Parents of students in violation of any policy will be notified and the student may be expelled from the event without refund. In case of emergency, participants may be contacted by telephone through the Auburn University Band office at (334) 844-4166.

2014 AUBURN MARCHING HONOR BAND SCHEDULE Saturday, September 6 9:30 10:00 Honor Band Percussion and Auxiliary Members (Danceline, Flagline, Majorettes) Check-in at Band Practice Field 10:00 10:30 Honor Band Percussion and Auxiliary sectional rehearsals. After check in, instructors will lead participants to sectional sites. 10:00 10:45 Honor Band Instrumentalists Check-in at the Band Practice Field. Have your instrument at this time. Please leave your instrument case in vehicle DO NOT BRING CASES TO BAND FIELD! 11:00 1:00 Rehearsal with the AUMB. At the conclusion of practice a box lunch and water will be provided. 4:00 Report in uniform (see below) at staging area to march to stadium (Wellness Center Entrance see map) 6:00 Kick off, Auburn vs. San Jose State *Please see the acceptance letter for drop off and pick up information.* UNIFORM: Blue Shorts, white socks and athletic shoes, and an A.U. Marching Honor Band T- shirt which will be provided for you. Rain gear WILL NOT be provided so plan accordingly. REMINDER: All A.U. Marching Honor Band participants must provide their own instrument, including percussion. None will be provided by the AU Band Department.

I, the undersigned, wish for my child to participate in the above Event on the date(s) indicated above and I hereby agree as follows: I acknowledge, understand and appreciate that as part of my child s participation in this Event there are dangers, hazards and inherent risks to which my child may be exposed, including the risk of serious physical injury, temporary or permanent disability, and death, as well as economic and property loss. The dangers, hazards and risks may arise from his/her own actions, inactions, or negligence as well as from the actions, inactions or negligence of others, or the condition of the premises. I also acknowledge and understand that there may be other dangers, hazards or risks not presently known or reasonably foreseeable. Participation in the Event includes travel to and from the Event. Therefore I, on behalf of my child, voluntarily accept and assume all risk of injury, loss of life or damage to property arising out of training, preparing, participating and traveling to or from this Event. I acknowledge that specialized experience and skills may be necessary for my child to participate in this Event and confirm that he/she possess such experience and skills. I understand and agree that my child will follow all safety precautions required for participation. To the extent that my child will engage in activities that are not a part of the Event and from which he/she may sustain personal injury or other damage to myself or property, or cause others to be injured or sustain other damage, including damage to their property, I understand that Auburn University, its Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, Staff, Student Leaders, and all other officers, directors, employees and agents (hereafter Auburn ) will not be held responsible. I, on behalf of my child, hereby release Auburn from any and all liability as to any right of action that may accrue to my heirs or representatives for any injury to my child or loss that my child may suffer while training, preparing, participating and/or traveling to or from this event. This agreement is binding on my heirs and assigns. I, on behalf of my child, furthermore release, indemnify and hold harmless Auburn from and against any and all liability, actions, debts, claims and demands of every kind whatsoever, specifically including, but not limited to, any claim for negligence or negligent acts or omissions and any present or future claim, loss or liability for injury to person or property that my child may suffer, for which my child may be liable to any other person, that may or does arise out of my child s participation in the Event. In the event of an accident or serious illness, I hereby authorize representatives of Auburn to obtain medical treatment for my child on my behalf. I hereby hold harmless and agree to indemnify Auburn from any claims, causes of action, damages and/or liabilities, arising out of or resulting from said medical treatment. I further agree to accept full responsibility for any and all expenses, including medical expenses that may derive from any injuries to my child that may occur during his/her participation in the Event.
