SHOWCASE APPLICATION INSTRUCTION MANUAL Australian Performing Arts Market Full Length - Excerpt - Outdoor/Site Specific This document is a step by step document reflecting the current online application process for all Showcase types during. Please ensure that you use this as a tool to guide you in your application. Applications may be submitted at any time once the application process is open and up until the closing date. Online applications and support material must be submitted by midnight (Australian Eastern Standard Time) 03 July 2017. Applications received after this date will not be accepted. Important: please note for online application assistance, please call Brisbane Powerhouse APAM Team between 9am and 5pm (AEST) Monday Friday. There will be no after-hours assistance. SHOWCASE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What do you mean by the Showcase criteria Artistic Excellence? The panel will consider: The quality, distinctiveness and significance of the work. The work s suitability for national and international audiences. The creative team, the artistic realisation (if applicable), critical review, and audience response (if applicable) to the proposed work. See the APAM website archive for examples of shows that have previously been successful in applying to APAM. What is a market development plan in the context of APAM? The panel will consider the applicant s market development plan and how they have demonstrated that an APAM Showcase will deliver national and international opportunities. These may include activities such as touring, residencies, exchange, co-productions, and co-commissioning opportunities. They will consider how well the APAM Showcase fits within a wider, targeted and feasible market development plan. What do you mean by tour-readiness? The panel will consider the artist/company s capacity to follow up on opportunities that arise through an APAM Showcase. They will take into consideration the: Previous touring experience of the artist/company and, if this is limited, the steps the artist/company has in place to follow up. Methods in place to manage any on-going relationships that arise. Capacity to tour the work (e.g. artists availability, set etc.); capacity to maintain quality of the work on the road; professional practices in place for managing elements from insurances to marketing; and a strategy that builds the artist/company s reputation, profile and future income earning capacity. PLEASE NOTE. To be eligible Showcases must be no more than 2 years old and cannot have premiered prior to January 2016. V.01 Page 3 of 3

How to Apply There are 5 steps to completing an APAM Showcase application. To be eligible for an excerpt showcase, you must be able to set up in 20 minutes or less and perform after one technical rehearsal. Each showcasing company will receive a maximum of 3 hours in venue for bump in, focusing & technical rehearsal. Once confirmed, APAM will require an updated technical rider for your excerpt showcase. PLEASE NOTE: The programing category chosen on the application homepage will determine following specification questions. SUBMISSION By submitting this application and all related material to APAM, you agree to meet the following criteria, terms and conditions: I am/we are a professional, Australian or New Zealand based performing artist or company. I am/we are available to present at APAM on any day between 19 23 February 2018. I/we can provide high quality promotional materials for inclusion in the APAM Guide and website. I am/the company is the copyright owner of any material provided in this application, or have the legal right to do so. This includes any text, images and other material. I/we grant APAM and its partners licence to use the material included with this application in any APAM related publications including the APAM Guide, brochures, reports etc. should my/our application be successful. I/we have professional representation or management in attendance throughout the five days of APAM. (Please note: successful applications will receive one complimentary delegate registration for this purpose.) If selected for the APAM program, this person must be available to introduce the work (in one minute or less) on stage prior to the performance. I/we can meet the costs of attending and showcasing at APAM (e.g. travel, accommodation and freight) and acknowledge that APAM provides the performance venue and basic technical requirements and crewing, but no financial assistance or fees. (Please note: To seek financial support to attend APAM, contact the APAM representative at your state or territory arts agency to enquire about assistance that may be available.) I am/we are in a position to consider any reasonable touring invitations that may arise from a showcase at APAM. I am/we are providing a letter of support from a leading industry peer that supports/advocates for my/our work. The proposed production is finished, may have premiered, and is professional. The proposed production is current (i.e. premiered in a completed form within the last two years or will be premiered prior to ). For excerpt showcases, you must be able to set up in 20 minutes or less and perform after one technical rehearsal. Each showcasing company will receive a maximum of 3 hours in venue for bump in, focusing and technical rehearsal. Once confirmed, APAM will require an updated technical rider for your excerpt showcase. (More time will be allocated for set up should your work be selected for a full length showcase.) IMPORTANT: By clicking the Submit Application button, you are submitting this application for consideration by the APAM Curatorial Panel and will no longer have the ability to add or edit any content. Please ensure to review your entire application and supporting documents before completing this step. Applications are due midnight Monday 3 July 2017 AEST.
