GO! RIDE CAMBODIA VOLUNTOUR Philippines - Jan 8-21 2016 Justice:823 Volunteer Trip

ABOUT US PROJECT SCOPE International Children s Care Australia (www.iccaustralia.org.au) is an international development donor organisation that works to alleviate poverty and build a brighter future for destitute children in Southeast Asian developing countries. Currently, we are actively involved in initiatives in countries such as Sri-Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. ICC Australia: Projects ICC Australia works with local partners to empower communities by increasing capacity in health, education, housing, agriculture and micro-finance. For example, ICC Australia has partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Cambodia to provide housing and relocate families off the Phnom Penh rubbish dump. ICC has also worked to provide micro-finance loans for small businesses to around 2,100 clients in the Philippines. We also operate family focused Children s Villages in all the above countries, whereby orphaned children are integrated into a family environment and given an education and a future, as well as providing care for victims of human trafficking. Background: Philippines The more than 7,200 islands of the Philippines are largely very impoverished and rate amongst some of the poorest nations on earth. With a huge population, large families struggle to make ends meet on or below the poverty line as set by the UN s Millennium Goals baseline global survey. Project Scope Volunteers will travel and adventure together while assisting ICC Philippines partners with practical skills in supportive roles such as, but not limited to, teaching, computer training, building and agriculture development, feeding programs, microfinance workshops and advocacy. Your itinerary will be fun and very engaging. Blessed Home This involves small projects such as basic vocational training, group empowerment activities and games, with girls that have been rescued from enslavement and forced prostitution. Build Covering home renovations or rebuilds, to school classroom re-fits, be prepared to work with timber, bamboo, steel or masonry. Agriculture Technical support for agricultural programs through irrigation, cropping and organic food production is an area where volunteers can support ICC Philippines partners to achieve best practice for a sustainable future. Philippines is a great rice and vegetable producer and our partners have many acres of working farmland. Teaching English English language skills will help many graduating students to find a good job and break forever the vicious cycle of poverty. ICC Volunteers can make a huge difference in ICC Philippines partner schools in just a short time with their teaching ability, in a nation that has a moderate level of English understanding. For the last twelve years, ICC Philippines has been able to provide holistic support to many abandoned and destitute children through some great children s services and wonderful loving care. Over 100 children receive care in two programs in the Philippines. One in Central Luzon called ICC Shining Jewels, (ICCSJ) and one on the island of Siquijor (pronounced Sig-ee-hor) called ICC Kaabag. Philippines is also home to the Blessed Project. 1 2
