AG-052 United Nations India-Pakistan Observation Mission (UNIPOM) () 1964-1966 Administrative History The United Nations India/Pakistan Observation Mission (UNIPOM) was organized in 1965 in order to supervise the cease-fire along the India/Pakistan border. Its Chief Officer was Major General Bruce F. Macdonald. Scope and Content Records consist primarily of correspondence and cables,, between Chief Officer Bruce F. Macdonald, United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United Nations Liaison Office in New Delhi, the Indian and Pakistani delegations, the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), the Indian and Pakistani armies, and others concerning military and political matters in the area. Of note are Macdonald's letters reporting on the situation to Ralph J. Bunche, Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs at United Nations Headquarters. Also included are reports,, including daily incident and weekly situation reports, summaries and statistics of complaints and investigations, and the Secretary-General's reports on the cease-fire and troop withdrawals. Correspondence, memoranda, accounts, reports, contracts, and agreements concerning personnel matters, accommodations, procurement of equipment and supplies, and other matters relating to the logistics of running UNIPOM are included.
