Annual EEO Public File Report The purpose of this EEO Public File Report ( Report ) is to comply with Section 73.2080 (6) of the FCC s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment unit that is comprised of KNDO-TV (Yakima, WA) and KNDU-TV (Kennewick, WA) and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of the station and posted on their website, if they have a website. The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning October 1, 2011 to and including September 30, 2012 (the Applicable Period ). The FCC s 2002 Report requires that this Report contain the following information: 1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period; 2. Section IV : Outreach Activities Activity Description Job Shadow Program Mentoring Program Scholarship Fund Tours Participated in Whitworth University's Fall Job & Internship Fair. Station representatives discussed opportunities with KHQ, Inc and provided written material outlining the internship programs as well as a list of kinds of jobs available at a television station and the training and skills required for those positions. Participated in Partners in Employment Career Fair which was hosted by Washington State, Eastern Washington, Whitworth, and Gonzaga Universities. Station representatives discussed employment and internship possibilities at KHQ-TV, KNDO-TV and KNDU-TV. A one-sheet noting the kinds of jobs available at a television station and an explanation sheet regarding the station's internship program were distributed. Participated in Gonzaga University's All Major Career & Internship Fair. Station representatives discussed employment and internship possibilities at KHQ-TV, KNDO-TV and KNDU-TV. Current postings were available for students to review. Participated in "Explore Your Future" job fair hosted by Greater Spokane Incorporated. Up to 3000 high school students tour this interactive job fair to look at careers. KHQ, Inc set up a camera and monitor so students could "try being an anchor". Students were informed of the education requirements to obtain a job in broadcasting. KNDO & KNDU regularly take part in job shadow programs at both it's Kennewick, WA and Yakima, WA locations. These are typically high school students in for a one or two day visit to learn about various job and career opportunities in broadcasting. There was one (1) job shadow in this reporting year in the news department. Employees often visit KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington to train with staff in the larger market. News reporters, photographers and web personnel have participated in this mentoring activity this reporting year. A seasoned meteorologist from KHQ-TV also regularly visits KNDO/KNDU to train and work with the weather staff on various topics. KHQ, Incorporated maintains a Scholarship Fund with Washington State University directed at students interning and desiring to pursue a career in broadcasting. KNDU gave two station tours to various groups of students in which the broadcasting industry is explained including job opportunities and the requirements needed for the jobs. The KNDO/KNDU Sales teams receive ongoing training throughout the year from WSAB on line training seminars. The seminars topics included web sales, mobile digital sales, prospecting. All seminars are archived for one year so AE's can view again and again. KNDO/KNDU Sales team attend monthly Leadership Tri-Cities meetings to learn about different areas throughout the cities including health and human services, economic development day, ag day, law enforcement, local and state government day, education, etc. The GSM and two LSMs attended the NAB annual small market conference in Nashville, TN in September. The primary focus at this years conference was leadership, personnel management and personal effectiveness. The KNDO/KNDU Sales teams receive online training and resources throughout the year from Center for Sales Strategies. Additionally individuals trained on other courses throughout the year. Wide Orbit provided a webinar for seven of our accounting staff providing training on the WO traffic system and performing accounting duties including establishing credit ratings along with using the credit status, credit stops and warnings features. ANX Virtual University provided a webinar for two of our accounting staff providing the latest trends in PCI credit card compliancy rules. Trustwave provided a webinar for six of our accounting staff providing training on PCI credit card compliancy rules. Sales management attended a seminar on the rules of political broadcasting sponsored by the WSAB. The GM participated in a 3 day NAB Leadership Seminar in Washington DC.
