5 th Summit aficta.africa/summit2017 SUMMIT 5 th 2 17 One Africa, One Future: Leveraging ICT for Sustainable Development aficta.africa/summit2017 About Summit 2017 T he information revolution and the extraordinary increase in the spread of knowledge have given birth to a new era one of knowledge and information which affects directly economic, social, cultural and political activities of all regions of the world, including Africa. Governments worldwide have recognized the role that Information and Communication Technologies could play in socio-economic development. ICTs are offering even less developed countries a window of o p p o r t u n i t i e s t o c h e e t a h p o l e va u l t t h e industrialization stage and transform their economies into high value competitive information economies in the global market Considering that Nigeria is the leading economy in Africa; and reflecting on the need to provide veritable platform for start-ups and innovators in Nigeria to reach African market and further grow the Nigerian economy out of recession; and affirming the imperative need for enduring PublicPrivate Partnership for sustainable development in line with the 2030 United Nations (UN) Development Agenda; hosted by the ADD Consortium (composed of Afenoid Enterprise Limited, DigiSphere Limited and Dotengee Nig Ent.), the Summit 2017 is scheduled to take place on 7-9 November, 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria in conjunction with enigeria powered by the National Information Technology Develpoment Agency (NITDA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications Nigeria. The theme for Summit 2017 "One Africa, One F u t u re : L eve ra g i n g I C T fo r S u sta i n a b l e Development is one of the key indicators of progress towards the fulfillment of vision of a digital Africa within the larger framework of the global vision of an information society with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. The Sub Themes are: Building partnerships for 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda Adaptive technologies for ehealth, elearning and ecommerce egovernment: Using technology to promote transparency and accountability Tackling cybercrime and securing critical information infrastructure Creating jobs and youth empowerment The outcome of the conference is expected to facilitate commitment on multinational/stakeholder synergy on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), become a driving force for job creations and youth empowerment. Accordingly, participation is expected from high level decision makers from the three Tiers of Government, Private Sector Organizations, Development Partners and the International Community.
