ISPOR CAC Chapter Annual Report 2012 Activities / Accomplishments Scientific / Educational Activities Summary Educational activities to decision-makers and physicians in the region continued to be the main focus of the Chapter during 2012. January 19, 2012 Conference on the basic concepts of HEOR, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Audience: Public and private insurance, Ministry of Health and Social Security authorities March 27, 2012 Presentation of a cost-effectiveness study on vaccines, Guatemala City, Guatemala. Audience: Social Security and Ministry of health authorities March 28, 2012 Conference on the basic concepts of HEOR and presentation of a costeffectiveness study on VAP, Panama City, Panama. Audience: Infectologists Conference on the basic concepts of HEOR. Audience: Social Security and Ministry of Health authorities Policy-Related Activities N/A Conferences and/or Chapter Meetings November 8-9, 2012 1 st ISPOR CAC Chapter Meeting, San José, Costa Rica. Audience: We received over 70 people from 6 countries of this region, such as Panamá, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Dominican Republic. The audience consisted of pharmacists, physicians, decision makers and industry. The welcome speech was given by the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica. Comments: This was the first time that a meeting about HEOR was done in Central America. The meeting was very successful, we achieve the amount of audience wanted and we manage to receive people from 6 countries of the region. The quality of the speakers and their conferences was extraordinary. The audience left very satisfied with the meeting and they look forward for new meeting in the near future. Other conferences as noted above in Scientific/Educational Activities section. 3

Membership Development The Chapter has had success in increasing its members through the educational activities in which it has participated. Membership went up from 147 in 2011 to 204 in 2012. Comments: More than 90% of members belong to health institutions. Less than 10% belongs to the pharmaceutical industry. Other It is important to mention that, thanks to the CAC Chapter, in this region the image of ISPOR is very high. Decision-makers see ISPOR as the best institution for Pharmacoeconomics in the world and they don t associate it with the pharmaceutical industry, as it happens in other countries. 4
