KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, GILL NAGAR, CHENNAI-600 094 ADMISSION INFORMATION FOR THE YEAR 2016-17 A.GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: i) To fill in all the columns legibly in ink or with ball pen. ii) To fill up the acknowledgement and take it back. iii) No application will be entertained after the due date. iv) Incomplete application will summarily be rejected. v) Mere registration of application form does not entitle admission. vi) Admission secured on submission of false certificate of SC/ST/OBC(Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS/BPL/Disabled/SGC or Transfer or any other wrong information shall be cancelled forthwith, without assigning any reason thereof. B.DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION / WHILE SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION. 1. Proof of age i. To attach self-attested true copy of the date of birth certificate issued by the authority competent to register birth/death. The child should be completing five years as on 31.03.2016 for Class-I. ii. Self-attested Xerox copy of residential certificate. iii. FOR DEFENCE EMPLOYEES: Attested or original certified true copy of the extract of Para II order (Army) bearing the Part II order number, POR in the case of Air Force will be accepted. This certificate should contain the Office Seal, Name and Designation of the Commanding Officer where the employee is serving at present. iv. SERVICE CERTIFICATE To attach Service Certificate ( Space provided in the application form) duly signed by the Head of Office bearing Name, Designation, Office Seal, etc. in Capital Letters and Telephone Numbers.
In case of Defence employees the same may be certified by the Commanding Officer of the Unit or Formation. NOTE: A Certificate of retirement for uniformed Defence employees. 1. The Service Certificate is acceptable only if it is issued by the Head of Office / Commanding Officer of the Rank of Colonel or equivalent where the employee is serving at present. 2. No certificate from the local Defence unit is acceptable for those serving outside the station. 3. The Service Certificate showing the number of transfers during the preceding last 7 years from 31 st March of the current year with stations and periods of stay should be recorded by the concerned office and not in the hand of the parent seeking admission. 4. Forms are to be signed by an officer who maintains the service records / competent authority. In the case of Transfer / Transfers of the employee during the preceding last 7 years from 31 st March of the current year, the actual distance from the old station to the new station shall be clearly mentioned in the service certificate duly signed by the Head of Office / Commanding Officer of the Rank of Colonel or equivalent. 5. Overwriting, if any, shall be countersigned by the competent authority with office seal. FIELD AREA POSTING / NON FAMILY ACCOMMODATION Defence Personnel posted in the field area, where there is no Kendriya Vidyalaya located should attach a certificate to this effect from the Head of Unit where they are working at present (not from the local unit) as well as a proof of their families residing at Chennai. ELIGIBLE AGE FOR ADMISSION A. A child must be 5 years old as on 31 st March of the calendar year in which admission is sought for Class I. B. An upper age limit for admission is fixed as the minimum age limit plus two years. No child would be eligible for admission in a Class if the age is more than this maximum
age prescribed. The maximum age would be further relaxed by two years for handicapped children. SINGLE FEMALE CHILD Information about single female child in the form of an undertaking may be attached with the Registration Form. COMMUNITY CERTIFICATE To attach self-attested true copy of the community Certificate (SC / ST / OBC (Non Creamy Layer) / Disadvantaged Group / EWS / BPL) issued by the competent authority. Originals should be submitted at the time of admission only. NOTE: DEFINITION OF DISADVANTAGED GROUP 1. Child belonging to disadvantaged group means a child belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, the socially and educationally backward class or such other group having disadvantage owing to social, cultural, economic, geographical, linguistic, gender or such other factor as may be specified by the appropriate government, by notification( Section 2(d) of RTE Act) 2. Child with special needs and suffering from disability means as per disability Act or as defined by the concerned State Govt. DEFINITION OF WEAKER SECTION Child belonging to weaker section means a child belonging to such a parent or guardian whose annual income is lower than the minimum limit specified by the appropriate government, by notification ( Section 2(e)). The definition/eligibility criteria of Disadvantaged Group/Weaker Section/BPL/OBC(Non creamy layer) will be as per the notification of the concerned State Governments. The income limit regarding economically weaker sections will be applicable as notified by the State Govt. concerned.

Registration Forms can be obtained from the Vidyalaya Office between 09.00 am and 12.00 Noon and the filled in applications are to be registered in the school between 10.00 am and 12.00 Noon only on all working days.
KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, GILL NAGAR, CHENNAI-600 094 METHOD OF ADMISSION IN CLASS I AS PER THE ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR 2016-2017. Out of the available seats of fresh admission 15% will be reserved for SC and 7.5% will be reserved for ST. The short fall in the number of seats reserved for SC and ST, will be worked out after considering number of SC/ST children admitted under RTE quota. 1. In first phase, 10 seats(out of 40 seats) in Class I per section are to be filled as per RTE Provisions (25% of seats) and these 10 seats will be filled by draw of lots from all applications of SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC(Non Creamy Layer)/ Differently abled taken together. 2. In second phase, remaining seats are to be filled as per existing Priority category system. The short fall in the seats reserved for SC/ST will be made good by filling of the seats as per order of Priority categories for admission.
