ISCOMS 2018 From the 4 th till the 8 th of June 2018 the International Student Congress Of (bio)medical Sciences (ISCOMS) will be held in the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) for the 25 th time. ISCOMS is the leading (bio)medical student congress of the world. ISCOMS features a broad range of scientific activities including masterclasses, workshops and presentations of student research, in poster, oral, and plenary sessions. Each year we also have renowned speakers speaking at the keynote lectures. Last year keynote lectures were given by robotic surgery expert Esther G.J. Consten MD PhD, 2016 Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Ben L. Feringa PhD, and 2001 Nobel Prize Laureate Sir Tim Hunt PhD. Ambitious students and recently graduated students In 2017, 720 students from 52 different countries participated in ISCOMS. 351 of those participants presented their research in a plenary, oral, or poster presentation. UMCG medical specialists and other employees They will be able to meet participants and companies in the central and public located area called the Fountain Patio where all of our breaks will be held. Scientists, professors and supervisors They attend the presentations, lectures and workshops given during ISCOMS. The UMCG Location ISCOMS is held in the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), which is one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands and the largest employer of the Northern Netherlands. The Fountain Patio is the central location in the UMCG and of ISCOMS. Many students, patients, visitors, doctors, and researchers are passing through this patio. As stated above, all breaks during the congress will be held at this location and in addition our registration desk will be located there. As such, the Fountain Patio in the UMCG will provide the perfect opportunity for a company to present itself to the audience of ISCOMS, for instance, by placing a stand. Focus on Healthy Ageing in a recognized region ISCOMS shares the focus on Healthy and Active Ageing with the UMCG. On the 13 th of July 2016 the European Commission awarded the Northern Netherlands and thus ISCOMS- a score of 4 stars.
