Phase Scope: General marine subjects; supply procedures; repair parts; maintenance management; marine engineering principles and practices; marine refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; marine sanitation; marine auxiliary equipment maintenance and repair; high speed and main two- and four-stroke cycle marine diesel propulsion engines and drive reduction gear; boilers; alternating and direct current marine electrical generation and distribution systems; marine hydraulics; and marine electric and hydraulic steering and thruster control systems for academic certification and vessel-specific licensing. Phase Prerequisites: All Warrant Officers (Active) or (Reserve) Component and graduates of the Warrant Officer Entry Course (WOEC) who meet the requirements of AR 135-100 and TRADOC Regulation 351-13 for Marine Engineering Warrant Officer must be assigned or on orders by Warrant Officer Division, MILPERCEN. Physical standards: In accordance with DA Pam 611-21, the following standards must be met for entry level and continued service in MOS 88K, 88L, 880A, and 881A. Vision standards: Distance visual acuity must be correctable to at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other eye. Color vision: Individual must pass the following color vision test, without the use of color sensing lenses, as per AR 40-501, chapter 4-12, Pseudoisochromatic plates. All Soldiers attending this course should arrive with a completed DA Form 7434 Application for Marine Certification. Also all Soldiers will have a serviceable class "A" or Army Service Uniform for graduation. Special Information: Graduation Requirements: (Subject to provisions of TR 350-6) NOTE: All training specified below, as required for graduation, will be made up if missed, and must be recorded on the Individual Training Record for IET Soldiers and DA Form 1059 for MOS-T Soldiers. The Soldier will be required to meet the performance/learning objectives specified in the POI for the instruction missed. Time required for makeup training will be determined locally. a. Pass the APFT with a minimum of 60 points in each event. b. Perform Shoring of Damaged Portion of a Ship's Structure. In the performance of scheduled damage control drills or actual emergency, the Marine Engineer Officer will assist in the repairing or the prevention of further damage to the ship's structure. Shoring, dunnage, and tool components of the damage control equipment weigh approximately 15-25 pounds and may have to be carried from one section of the ship to another. The distance can be as far as 100 ft and may involve carrying items up or down stairwells and passageways. Should vessel be taking on water, the repair or prevention of the ship's structure could be conducted while water in entering the compartment. c. Complete all mandatory classroom instruction. d. Pass all Hands-on/Written evaluations.

AR 200-1 delineates TRADOC responsibilities to integrate environmental requirements across Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel and Facilities (DOTMLPF) and ensure all training procedures, training materials, and training doctrine include sound environmental practices and considerations. The Army's environmental vision is to be a national leader in environmental and natural resource stewardship for present and future generations as an integral part of all Army missions. This Program of Instruction (POI) meets this standard. SAFETY. Accidents are an unacceptable impediment to Army missions, readiness, morale, and resources. Decision makers at every level will employ risk management approaches to effectively preclude unacceptable risk to the safety of personnel and property affiliated with this course. MEDICAL SUPPORT TO TRAINING. Installation commanders and school commandants will assess and certify the adequacy of medical support to training at least annually. This responsibility is not delegable. Installation commanders and school commandants conducting high-risk training shall rehearse their medical support (casualty response, evacuation, and treatment) plan at least annually, focused on responding to a training catastrophe. This Program of Instruction (POI) complies with the intent of the Army's Medical Support to Training policy. OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENT. The learning objectives in the Army training must comply with current Joint, Army, and Branch doctrine regarding the Operational Environment (OE) and Opposing Force (OPFOR) scenarios. This Program of Instruction (POI) addresses this principle and incorporates current doctrine and lessons learned at the appropriate level, divesting of obsolescence, and implementing full spectrum operations in the OE in classrooms and training exercises. Foreign Disclosure: FD3 - This training product has been reviewed by the developers in coordination with the Transportation School, Fort Lee, VA 23801 foreign disclosure officer. This training product cannot be used to instruct international military students.
