NURSING Associate of Applied Science Degree

what s it ALL ABOUT? The curriculum in the Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing is designed to meet the health care needs of the 21st century. The curriculum focuses on the registered nurse s role in the communities, hospitals, clinics, long term and home health care. This Kent State nursing degree program consists of a specifically designed curriculum with emphasis on direct care. The curriculum combines liberal education and nursing education courses. The liberal education courses seek to develop students potential as individuals, while the nursing education and supportive courses prepare for practicing the career. THIS PROGRAM WILL PREPARE YOU This Kent State nursing degree program s curriculum is designed to prepare men and women to become associate degree nurses who will: Use the nursing process to meet the needs of individuals in a structured setting; Demonstrate therapeutic communication skills in interactions with patients, families and health team members; Perform safely the nursing skills and techniques identified in all nursing courses; and Function within the legal and ethical guidelines of the nursing role as a provider of care, manager of care and member of the profession.

Who is Eligible? Admission to the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program is selective and based on space availability. 1. Apply to the Kent State University Regional Campus of choice (which includes having all transcripts from high school, previous college-level and technical coursework sent for evaluation). 2. Complete college or high school courses in alegbra, biology and chemistry. 3. Complete the developmental coursework as prescribed by your placement assessment. 4. Meet with the ADN program representative. 5. Meet the ADN minimum GPA requirement.
