Bradley Beach Has It All!! OCTOBER 2017 CHAMBER NEWSLETTER Main Street Beautification Committee John Esposito, Chair Beth Cotler Ray Bloetjes Shirley Ayres This committee is dedicated to improving the look of Main Street. Main Street has never looked more beautiful than it did this year. The hanging baskets featured healthy colorful flowers, and the trash was kept under control. Thank you, Biagio Cofone and your dedicated crew. You make us all proud of our town. Chamber of Commerce News: Members: Please submit photos, pictures and events to our Chamber email (bbcc@bradleybeachnj.org) and they will be included on our Facebook page. Submit as many pictures and/or events as you want, but please be aware that the Bradley Beach Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to refuse email/online advertising based on language and/or content. Help us welcome Chamber Members Aimee and Heather of PRESENT Gift Shop to town! You are invited to PRESENT s Grand Opening on Saturday October 7 th from 3-6 PM.

Small Business Saturday, November 25, 2017: This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 25 th. The Chamber has participated as a Partner for three years. This year is no different, except we have received all the materials and information a lot earlier than in the past. We have signed up 14 businesses, the limit for the application. We have lots of information about how to organize the businesses. American Express, the sponsor, has emailed us lots of downloadable materials, such as posters, flyers, giveaways, etc. Our members will be kept updated on what is happening and when. We look forward to a very exciting Small Business Saturday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25 th. It is not too early to plan for our big shopping day. Every day of the year should be Small Business Shopping Day. Shop Local. Shop Often. Public Library News: We wish to welcome Library Director, Janet Castelpietra to our community. We are sure she will be a welcome addition to Bradley Beach.

The Library recently purchased the Ancestry.com Genealogy Library Edition for patrons to use in the Library. Deb Khost is trained to help people look for their ancestors in many different ways. For more information and details, please call 732-776-2995 during Library hours. This is another FREE service to members of the Public Library. ***** Bradley Beach Elementary School News: PTO News: During the summer, the PTO held a raffle to benefit the 8 th Grade Washington trip. Every Thursday, at the Bradley Fresh Farm Market in Riley Park, the PTO was out selling raffle tickets. They went door-to-door, to all the businesses in town, selling tickets. Finally, on Thursday, September 14 th, on Back to School Night, the grand prize winner was drawn, and Principal Dr. Wisniewski presented the travel certificate. Congratulations to the PTO for such a successful raffle! Most of all, congratulations to the members of the 2018 graduating class! They truly will benefit from the generosity of all the people who bought raffle tickets, and from the amazing fund raising abilities of the members of the PTO. Starting this month, there will be three ways (and one tried and try method) to help support our Elementary School. Information will be on the Elementary School s and the Chamber s websites. 1) Stop and Shop Super Market in Neptune City is willing to have a percentage of your purchases donated to the school. All you have to do is register your customer card with the store and it will take place from September until March. 2) Target has a service for customers to donate a percentage of their purchases to the school of their choice. 3) Amazon School Rewards will earn the school up to 10% of your purchases. 4) And, of course, please save box tops and bring them to school for additional savings for school supplies and equipment. I am sure a lot of people, whether they have children in the Elementary School or not, will be willing to sign up for these donations to the school. The Best Part? It s All FREE for you to participate! Ladies Auxiliary News: On Saturday, October 14 th from 9 AM until 3 PM, the Auxiliary will sponsor their Fall Town Wide Garage Sale. Applications are available at Borough Hall. Grow Monmouth grants: There is still Monmouth County grant money available for businesses that want to improve and beautify the outside of their stores. The grants are for up to $1,850.00. The County has no idea when the money will run out so if you are interested, please send in your application as soon as possible. The money is good for façade beautification projects, only. This program is under the leadership of Freeholder Tom Arnone. Since grants have been made available, the following businesses in Bradley Beach have received façade grants: Beach Cinema; Patrick Parker Realty; The Buttered Biscuit; The Connolly Agency; Nonno s Italian Restaurant; Ann Bags; Tuscany by the Sea; owner of 316 Main Street; owner of 708 Main Street.

The documents up for discussion are also available on their website. A very special Thank you to the Mayor and Council, and especially Kelly Barrett, for the beautiful memorial plaques displayed on the Borough s meeting room wall, of the Armed Forces from Bradley Beach who served in World War II and Vietnam. We are very proud of all our military men and women. These plaques keep their sprits alive whenever anyone looks at them. Thank you very much for the plaques. They are wonderful. This coming month of November, we will be reminded that it has been exactly 100 years since the United States became involved in The Great War, World War I. It was The war to end all wars, but, unfortunately, too many wars have happened since then. At this time, and at any time, please take the opportunity to thank an Armed Forces man or woman for their service in the United States military. No matter where or how they served, their time in the Armed Forces was time away from family, friends, education and careers. We will always be grateful for their sacrifices for our nation. ***** Look for our next newsletter. Meanwhile, be sure to check our website daily for lots of valuable information about Bradley Beach, Asbury Park, Avon, Neptune City, Ocean Grove, and other surrounding towns.
