The session covers the background behind the legislation how did we get here and the main elements of the Act. There are many variants of this presentation that then drill down further into some of the key components of the Act, including Value-Based Purchasing, the Partnership for Patients, new models of payment and accountable care and population health.

He later relocated to Jonesboro where he managed both the Jonesboro and Paragould branches of United Medical. Fred joined Ethicon Endo-Surgery Incorporated in the summer of 1996 as a sales representative and account manager for northeast Arkansas as a part of the Mighty River Division and Mid South Region. In his 18 years with Ethicon U.S., Fred has achieved numerous awards including three Sales Excellence Awards being in the top ten percent of sales results, and is now an Executive Sales Representative, Territory Leader and Science of Tissue Management Specialist. In 2010, Fred was recognized by the Society for Arkansas Healthcare Purchasing and Materials Managers as the Salesperson of the Year. His territory expands into central Arkansas and parts of southeast Missouri. Mike Harbour is the Founder and President of Harbour Resources, a leadership consulting, training and talent management firm based in Little Rock, Arkansas and serving clients across the United States. Harbour Resources services include leadership and executive coaching, behavioral assessments, and leadership development for new and emerging leaders, as well as helping building Human Resources internal recruitment practices. In addition, Harbour Resources provides search services for C level, VP, executive, director and middle management level positions in the Healthcare Industry across all healthcare disciplines. Specialties include executive management, service line operations, finance, nursing leadership, revenue cycle and practice management. Mike has spent the last 20 years in the healthcare industry as a leader in hospital operations, leadership training and development, sales, talent management and executive search. He has a degree in Health Services Management and was trained in leadership while serving in the United States Army as a US Army Soldier/Officer. As a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Trainer, and Speaker, and with this extensive leadership experience, Mike offers the services, training, and assessment tools to move you and/or your team or organization in the desired direction to reach your goals. His focus and his company s mission is to provide services that will help you lead others, lead yourself, hire A players for your teams, and develop them to be successful. Keith Kosel s responsibilities include overseeing the design, development, and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research studies involving clinical quality, patient safety and patient experience. His work focuses on understanding knowledge transfer paradigms and how these can be used to enhance clinical quality initiatives at VHA member organizations. Keith s prior role at VHA was as head of the performance analytics area where he was responsible for all aspects of measurement, methodology and analytics. He has designed numerous surveys and assessment tools used to measure employee engagement, organizational preparedness, clinical performance and patient safety. Prior to joining VHA in 2000, Keith was director of clinical programs at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where he designed and oversaw disease management and case management programs for Ford, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler. Keith has served on the faculty of Boston University School of Medicine and the Michigan State University Medical School and has written and co-authored numerous publications in the field of medicine and on the business of healthcare. Keith received his PhD from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He currently is a member of the faculty of Texas Woman s University where he teaches in the Colleges of Management and Health Professions. Ken Lowe works with hospitals, clinics and healthcare related organizations with their improvement activities. He is also an accomplished Lean Design facilitator and project manager. Before HPP, Ken had nearly 30 years of experience in manufacturing, including 16 years in the automotive industry. He has a proven background to be a change agent, utilizing business metrics to analyze and develop lean strategies that address the voice of the customer. He was introduced to Lean Methodology while working with Johnson Controls, a lead supplier for Toyota, where he was Champion of Lean Implementation at his plant. Ken has a B.S. in Finance from Bethel College.

SAHPMM Golf Outing SAHPMM has scheduled a golf event to be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at the Cortez Golf Course, 299 Cortez Road, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909. The cost will be $75.00 per person which includes cart, green fees and lunch and will be a four-man scramble format. We will try, as much as possible, to even out the teams based on each participant's handicap. To register, please complete the bottom portion of this page and return by April 1 st so we can put the teams together. Please make checks payable to SAHPMM. We would like as much participation as possible, so please consider joining us.
