Career Coach Handbook Addendum: Get Into Energy Registration 1
GET INTO ENERGY REGISTRATION SITE The Get Into Energy Registration Site is a tool designed to help jobseekers get connected to companies offering exciting careers in the energy industry. Using a brief form, students can register their basic information, as well as submit a resume to be entered into CEWD s Job Seekers Database. Energy industry employers in the Arizona Sun Corridor Get Into Energy Consortium can then review employee information, access resumes, and will be able to notify students about any relevant job opportunities that may become available. In addition, students will also view a list of recruitment contact information from participating employers. This will enable students to reach out to company representatives with any questions they may have about the application process or particular jobs. This database will also be a good source of contact information for the coaches and the schools. Once students graduate, continued contact with the student is difficult. Most students no longer use their college email address, and in some cases students phone numbers change, making it difficult for the career coaches and the schools to connect with graduates. We believe that with the connection to energy jobs and the companies, students will sign up and maintain their most current information on the database. To access the database: Click here or log into http://getintoenergy.com/registration/index.php How, Where, and When Students Can Register We have learned how important it is for students to understand the purpose of this tool and registering him/herself. Without this understanding, the data may not be entered correctly nor maintained by the student. They also need to understand that the accuracy and quality of the data they enter is critical since the employers will be accessing the information they have entered as well as their resumes. Any errors or lack of information will reflect on the student. Students should also understand that this is a great tool for their job search. The Get Into Energy site allows students to see every job that is posted by the companies that are part of the Arizona Sun Corridor Get Into Energy Consortium. Each of the company s job postings will be scraped each evening and, therefore, new postings will be accessible in this one location daily. Most of the colleges involved in the Arizona Sun Corridor Get Into Energy Consortium will have students register on the site during the CPD 104 class. Slides to be used by the 2
instructor, as well as a cheat sheet for the students, have been developed and can be found in Appendix 1 and 2, respectively. This will be done towards the end of the class so that students will have completed their resume, and will be able to upload it upon registration. The career coaches have each developed an internal process to provide this information to students who may have already completed CPD 104 but are still enrolled in a Get Into Energy program and taking classes. Registration Process The registration process will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, including the uploading of the student s resume. Below is the cheat sheet with the registration information that students will be required to complete. Add your personal cell phone number. This will be used by companies to text when there are new jobs being posted. Add your degree/certificate and graduation year (current or future expected date). Add your personal email address not your school email address! Use a password that you will easily remember. 3
Identify relevant skills gained through work experience and internships, etc. Upload your most up-todate resume companies will be reviewing the resume to help fill open positions. Indicate cities where you can work, or just indicate the state if you are flexible.. It is important that the students follow this cheat sheet and enter accurate and consistent information into the database. It is recommended that a final resume be reviewed by the career coach or instructor before it is uploaded, to ensure that it is error-free and contains information that would be valuable to employers. Full Name: Email Address: Password: Relevant Skills: The student should enter a first and last name. The student should enter their personal email address, not the school email address. We recommend using the same password as the one used in Kuder, or one that will be easy to remember. Add your degree, graduation year, and specific work experience relevant to the energy industry 4
