1. ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP & TALENT DEVELOPMENT CELL Virudhunagar is laden with entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneurial culture of this land is also seen in women and they exhibit it by carrying out small business and enrolling themselves as self help groups. It makes clear that a conscious and targeted effort can help spread entrepreneurial culture among women and make them more self sustainable. As an educational institution we would like to create entrepreneurial spirit and culture among the students and women in Virudhunagar. Hence the Entrepreneurship Development cell was inaugurated in the Department of Management Studies in our college in the academic year 2012-2013 to redefine the role of the youth and women and make them more independent. The cell focuses to promote self-employment and Entrepreneurship culture among Youth and women and to empower the youth with entrepreneurial skills. Through the cell the students are groomed as job providers rather than job seekers. VISION The vision of the cell is to become a renowned center of excellence for entrepreneurship development and actively mentoring and training aspiring entrepreneurs to realize their dreams. MISSION The mission of the cell is to develop an entrepreneurial spirit among youth and to provide guidance for translating their latent ideas into viable enterprises. 3 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

OBJECTIVES OF THE CELL The main objectives of the cell are To inculcate entrepreneurial culture among the students and rural unemployed youth in Virudhunagar and create a passion for self employment To assist entrepreneurs in identifying right business opportunities, sourcing finance, identifying market, preparation of business plan. To impart training in Entrepreneurial skills to rural unemployed women in areas like Food processing, Fashion designing, Handi-crafts, Jewellery making, etc and make them self employed. To develop entrepreneurial & intrapreneurial traits like creativity, leadership, decision making, analytical skills, etc. among students to be a successful entrepreneur. To identify, motivate and assist budding entrepreneurs. To provide consultancy to improve businesses undertaken by Self Help Groups. To develop a resource centre of information on business opportunities, markets, financial assistance and cases on successful entrepreneurs. 4 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

3. ACTIVITIES OF THE CELL The core activities of the cell are as follows To create an entrepreneurship culture by conducting Entrepreneurship Development Programme. Make tie ups with various Corporate engaged into Entrepreneurship development for mentoring. To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information to budding student entrepreneurs. To conduct courses in Entrepreneurship for students and organizing skill development training programme for unemployed youth. To organize guest lecture delivered by successful entrepreneurs. To arrange interaction with entrepreneurs and create a mentorship scheme for student To arrange visits to industries for prospective entrepreneurs. 5 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

4. ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED BY THE CELL IN 2012-2013 The activities of the entrepreneurship and Talent development cell focuses to develop entrepreneurial skills and talent skills among the students. 5. CAMPUS COMPANY The concept of Campus Company is the new initiative by the Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell. Campus Company is started by the students of the entrepreneurship development cell inside the college campus. The students take all the responsibilities like procuring the raw material, producing the product, marketing the product and maintaining financial accounts. The students made food products like Biscuits, Amla squash and Nannari syrup under the brand name SUVAI and marketed the product within the college among the students. CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2012-2013 JULY 20 INAGURATION OF THE CELL & SEMINAR ON WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT The Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell was inaugurated on this fine day by Sri.T.T.Mathan, MBA, former secretary of our college. On that same day with the focus to promote entrepreneurship among the women folks an inter collegiate and inter-disciplinary seminar on Women Entrepreneurship Development was organized. The main motto of this seminar is to inspire, motivate and guide the future budding women entrepreneurs. 206 Students from 17 colleges participated in that seminar. The key speakers of the seminar were Sri.K.C.Gurusamy, Managing partner, Kaycee Plasto pack, Sri.R.SivaSankaran, Assistant Director, DIC, Sri.E.Paulraj, Branch Manager, TIIC, Smt.G.Uma Maheshwari Proprietor, Shreejaa paper cups and Selvi.S.Amutha Shanthy, Thyagam, Annai Illam. This seminar acted as the knowledge treasure for students and women who aspire to become the successful women entrepreneurs. 9 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

AUG 25 EXPERT s TALK In order to create mentorship from successful entrepreneurs and make students interact with them a new fortnightly programme Expert s Talk was inaugurated, where entrepreneurs and corporate executives share their business and corporate experience to the students. Some of the Experts who participated in the programme were Sri.Balamurgan Kalimuthu, National Service Manager, Revolution IT, Australia. AUG 29, 30 & 31 ud COLLEGE BAZZAR College Bazaar A joint initiative by Govt. of Tamilnadu, Management studies students of our college and Self Help Group to market the products produced by SHG in colleges and promote them. In order to promote the products produced by the Self Help Group the Collectorate of Virudhunagar joint hands with the cell and organized a College Bazaar in our college campus for 3 days. The college bazaar enabled the students to gain the practical knowledge in marketing the products. 9 final year MBA Students were selected for a 6 months internship programme where the MBA students promote the Self Help Groups by providing ideas in production, marketing and product development. 11 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

SEP BREAK THRU PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 20 & 21 A devel In order to develop intrapreneurial skills among students a two day Personality development Programme BREAK THRU was organized for UG and PG final year management studies students by Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. The students were trained in good attitude building, positive thinking, leadership skills, goal setting, team skills, decision making skill and motivational skills. SEP 25 Annual Report 2012-13 INTER COLLEGIATE SEMINAR ON INNOVATIVE BUSINESS IDEAS & INTER-COLLEGIATE BUSINESS PLAN CONTEST (IGNITE) In order to motivate the students in identifying the right business opportunities and to convert their business ideas to a viable business enterprise, an Inter-collegiate seminar on Innovative Business Idea and a business plan contest was organized for the MBA students. IGNITE was with the objective to spark the fire within the mind of the youth in knowing about the various innovative business ideas and opportunity available to the aspiring entrepreneurs. 41 MBA students from various colleges participated in the seminar the key speakers were Thiru. V.R.Muthu, Chairman, V.V.V & Sons Edible oils Ltd and Thiru KR. Gnanasambandan, CEO, Green (India) Laboratory, Madurai & Vice Chairman TANSTIA (Madurai Region). The Business Plan Contest Provided a massive platform for students to showcase their innovations and to tread their first step on the exciting path of entrepreneurship and innovation. 8 teams participated in the Business plan Contest and the winners were from K.L.N college of Engineering, Madurai 13 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

PLACEMENT ORIENTED COMMUNICATION TRAINNING jkfjgkjb kgkjk PROGRAMME SEP & OCT 2012 In the motive of excelling communication skills in the students, Aspirant Q", a placement oriented Communication skills training programme is organized for the final year MBA students by Beehive Communication Club. This programme developed self confidence among the students in communicating fluently in English and helped the students in their placement and career. 14 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

JAN 23 WORKSHOP ON ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS IN FOOD PROCESSING. INDUSTRY To impart training in Entrepreneurial skills, workshops on Biscuits making, Amla Squash making and Nannari Syrup making were organized to the students of Entrepreneurship Development Cell and other students. 15 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

FEB 25 to 28 VYAPAR-TRADE FAIR A trade fair named 'VYAPAR' is organized in the college that exhibited a wide assortment of things including novelties, gift items, student consumable, eatables etc. The fair had 6 stalls which were open for 5 days. The students of the department of management studies manned the stalls, managed sales, stock and finance and pulled this initiative to a great success. 16 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell

7. GRANTS APPLIED BY THE CELL The Entrepreneurship and Talent Development cell is in seek of fund in order to carry out the activities effectively. Many Institutions fund EDC to promote entrepreneurship and one among the institution is the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE). And a proposal in seeking a fund of Rs. 5 lakh under the title Promotion of Entrepreneurship among Rural Women in Virudhunagar is submitted to AICTE under the AQIS schemes. 8. ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF THE CELL The Entrepreneurship development & Talent Development cell has an advisory committee to guide and support all activities of the cell. 9. FUTURE PROPOSED ACTIVITIES OF THE CELL In the next academic year we are in the plan to organize various workshops on Crystal Jewellery making, Homemade Chocolates making, Fur Toy making and Beautician Course for the students, rural unemployed women and aspiring women entrepreneurs. This workshop would facilitate them to equip themselves with the skills which will help them to start their own business. We also plan to extend the concept of Campus Company with more new products like Chocolates and Crystal Jewells. 18 Entrepreneurship & Talent Development Cell
