Job Title: Senior Care Assistant - Nursing Grade & Spinal Point: Reporting to: Direct Reports: Responsible for: Job Purpose: Home Manager/Deputy Manager/Registered Nurse Care Assistants To ensure optimum levels of person centred care is delivered consistently to all residents creating a welcoming, caring and engaging environment for all residents, visitors and employees within the home. Providing continued support to less experienced employees enabling them to contribute fully to the care team overall. Job Functions The following basic and other qualifications are reflective of the types of work and commensurate with the level of education and experience indicated in this Job Description. All offers of employment are subject to a DBS check. Care and Support Responsible for providing support and guidance on all aspects of care to the care team, particularly in relation to the induction of new staff to ensure full compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures; Continually review and prompt the appropriate production of a person centred care plan, ensuring the plan meets all of the resident s needs in a holistic manner; Review and plan the rota, to ensure senior care support is available at all times; Assist residents with all aspects of personal care including toileting, bathing, dressing and undressing, ensuring optimum independence, dignity and respect of individuals; Promote and deliver the full dining experience for residents, assisting to serve meals and beverages and attending to residents requiring additional attention at mealtimes; Regularly attend to residents with reduced continence control, toileting, cleaning and changing continence pads and removing wet or soiled clothing to ensure the resident remains comfortable and the risk of skin deterioration is reduced; Carry out care activities in accordance with the care plan for less mobile and poorly residents, particularly turning and moving to reduce the risk of development of pressure sores; Assist residents with restricted mobility to move to communal areas or to return to their bedrooms as requested, using the correct moving and handling procedures as per the policy; Ensure bedroom areas are kept clean, tidy and pleasant for the service users by undertaking tasks such as making beds, regularly changing bed linen and emptying commodes;
Responsible for the regular cleaning of equipment involved in personal care of residents, including commodes and wheelchairs; Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks in particular moving and handling of loads, ensuring the policies and procedures are adhered to at all times; Take responsibility for co-ordinating documentation of individual care plans, reporting back to person in charge; Understand personal responsibilities with regard to Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling or residents and fire safety and evacuation procedures; Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident; Encourage and contribute to working as a team, responding positively to colleagues and acting on all reasonable work instructions promptly.

Experience /Desirable Method of Assessment NVQ 3 or equivalent in care for care homes with a desire to work towards achieving NVQ 4 Current certificate/cv or Advanced Apprenticeship Experience /Desirable Method of Assessment Previous experience working with the client group.
