The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre provides an integrated cancer management and treatment service for patients from the West of Scotland. Facilities are situated in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Tom Wheldon Building on the Gartnavel Hospitals site. Approximately 7500 courses of radiotherapy are provided annually requiring over 100,000 patient attendances. The Radiotherapy Department is equipped with some of the most up-to-date facilities currently available, which includes 11 linear accelerators, 3 CT Scanners, 1 Acuity simulator, an Advantage Windows Virtual Simulation system, an Eclipse planning system and all are networked via the ARIA Radiotherapy Management System. You are required to accurately and efficiently plan and deliver radiotherapy and to provide highest possible standard of care and support to patients with a wide range of clinical pathologies and varying presentations. You will be responsible for accurate planning of treatment, accurate calculation and delivery of radiation treatment while conducting checks and verification on all treatment prescriptions and treatment field positions. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of accurate treatment records for each patient. You will rotate through specialist areas such as pre-treatment, simulator, CT simulator and all treatment machines, and with supervision you will assist in the day to day operation of a treatment unit, simulator or other area of the department. You will also be responsible for supervision of radiotherapy assistants and student radiographers.
