March 2009 submitted/received SDSU IRB Approval entitled A Pilot Test of a Summer Simulation Training Fellowship Spring 2009 first in-situ simulation conducted in the state of SD with use of SimMan at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD Feb. 2009 submitted pilot study plans to the NLN to obtain permission for the use of Student Satisfaction and Self Confidence in Learning Tool to be utilized by service/education research team Spring 2009 @ Augustana College & Spring 2010 @ South Dakota State University with senior nursing students. Obtained approval from Dr. Kathy Lasater to utilize the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric for the same pilot study. June 2007--Received IRB approval to repeat study previously conducted with faculty members during the Fall Semester of 2005 to identify whether measures Simulation Task Force had implemented to assist faculty members to feel more comfortable (2006-2007) utilizing this teaching methodology had increased the faculty members comfort levels. Summer 2008 conducted Vital Sim Annie training with Brookings Healthcare Organization Staff Nurses for review of cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal health assessment. Summer 2007 and summer 2008: Worked with Brookings Hospital Staff Nurses delivered 2-day competency camps with SimMan (First summer did SVT scenario with Adenosine and second summer did Mock Code) Summer 2006--Assisted Graduate Faculty Members as consultant for utilization of Simulation for family nurse practitioner students. Approved for Ms. Gloria Lau (Fall 2006) a graduate student at Holy Names University in Oakland, California to do an approximate replication of my study on Faculty Members Comfort Levels with Simulation. (Have received numerous other requests since this time to utilize instrument from doctoral study) (Dr. Pamela Jeffries was one of the experts whom reviewed the tool. (Tool Cronbach Alpha.91) Fall 2006--Submitted study plans to the NLN to obtain permission for the use of the three instruments developed for the NLN/Laerdal Simulation Study for South Dakota State University faculty members to utilize to measure student satisfaction with simulation Fall 2005--Developed new instrument to measure faculty comfort levels when utilizing simulation as a teaching methodology and for evaluation while complete doctoral work.
