WELCOME Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists (VACP) is the voice of professional clinical psychology within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its purpose is "the advancement of Clinical Psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare by developing and encouraging high standards of ethics and training; by providing the opportunity for the exchange of experience and research through discussions, presentation and publications; and by educating the public in the purposes and goals of the art and science of the practice of clinical psychology for the promotion of the public welfare." Please join us for VACP's Fall Symposium, which will take place on October 13-14, 2017, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Glen Allen, VA. An overarching goal of this year s symposium is for attendees to leave more aware of the interplay of the sociocultural, medical, and psychological on individuals' lives. We hope to provide new knowledge and skills for approaching the whole person in clinical practice and research. Furthermore, we aim to discuss ways to successfully integrate psychological practices across modalities and settings. Finally, the VACP Fall Symposium will include Opportunities for networking and social events, which will allow for building of new and strengthening existing professional relationships. This will include marketplace changes, cost savings rationale for hiring integrated care providers, unique competencies required, and options for obtaining training in this area. The 10-year experience of reshaping the VCU Clinical Psychology PhD around training in safety net primary care will also be summarized. Advances in Brain Science and Neurotherapy ~Rick Ellis, Ed.D and Kelly Woods, MA 1 Hr This presentation addresses the neurological foundations of neurofeedback/neurotherapy, a review of research with treatment-resistant populations and appropriate case studies. Participants will learn the foundations of Quantitative Electroencephalography (qeeg), LORETA 3-D analysis, and neural networks in treatment design. qeeg is used to guide the most efficient application of neurofeedback. Webster, Psy.D., Dept. of Veteran Affairs Approximately 100 million adults living in the United States endorse having chronic pain (Giannitrapani, et al., 2016). Psychologists have the opportunity to function as consultants within an integrated care team, as well as, offering expertise in teaching non-pharmacological methods for chronic pain management. This presentation will cover strategies for engaging primary care providers in a team approach, psychoeducation regarding the biopsychosocial conceptualization for chronic pain, and discuss various treatment methods.
