SUPPORT THE ROYAL AIR FORCE CHARITIES TO BUILD A LASTING LEGACY
The Royal Air Force is celebrating its 100th anniversary as the world s first independent air force during 2018. This is a nationally and internationally significant event. The Royal Air Force is held in high regard by the international air force community as the most innovative, professional and progressive deliverers of air power. This stems from excellent equipment provided by the industrial base, popular support from the UK public, well-honed tactics and procedures, great leadership and well-trained, loyal and dedicated people. An exciting collection of commemorative and celebratory events are planned which will take centre stage in the national consciousness during 2018. In keeping with the progressive vision of the Royal Air Force, a major outcome of the celebrations is to create a legacy to match the vision of Viscount Trenchard when he steered the creation of the Royal Air Force 100 years ago. INSPIRE AND SUPPORT THE NEXT 100 YEARS The RAF and the four main RAF charities are combining as one for this unique moment in history to commemorate the past 100 years since the formation of the RAF and look forward with confidence to a future of hope and opportunity for the entire RAF family. Founded on April 1st 1918 at the end of the First World War, the RAF is the oldest independent air force in the world. In 2018, our nation will come together to recognise 100 years worth of dedication, sacrifice and achievements. This is why the members of the RAF100 Appeal have joined forces with a mission to ensure that all members of the RAF family past, present and future are honoured, supported and inspired. From the youngest child to the oldest veteran, those currently serving their country and their brave families at home, the RAF100 Appeal will support tens of thousands of individuals, building on the successes of the past centenary and leaving a lasting legacy for years to come. The three key areas for the focus of our activities are on the next pages.
